£87.99David of the White Rock - Traditional
This is an ancient Welsh air that was first published in Relics of the Welsh Bards in 1794. Dafydd (David) Owain was a famous Welsh bard who lived on a farm called Gareg Wen (The White Rock) in Eifionydd, Carnarnvonshire, North Wales. Tradition has it that on his deathbed he called for his Harp and composed this lovely melody, requesting that it be played at his funeral. Accordingly, it was later played at the parish church of Ynys-Cynhaiarn. Lyrics were later added by Ceiriog Hughes, which describe the melody's inspiration. This version for Concert Band retains all the beauty and simplicity of the original.

Duettino
Composer, flutist and conductor Franz Albert Doppler (1821-1883) descends from a musical Austrian-Hungarian family. Together with his brother Karl, who was a flute virtuoso, he travelled extensively around Europe. Arranger Gottfried Veit has arranged this appealing duet for concert band with two flutes as soloists. It is a fine addition to the repertoire and an ideal work to spotlight you flautists.

Sentimentale - Satoshi Yagisawa
Premiered by Funabashi Hiagshi High School under the direction of Shinichiro Tagawa in March, 2015, Sentimentale is an excerpt from Yagisawa's Trumpet Concerto. That work, commissioned by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Central Band with trumpet soloist Kenichi Kurishu, premiered in 2003 with many subsequent performances. In 2013, the Concerto had its U.S. debut with Kagoshima Joho HS and Robert Sullivan, principal trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony. I received many warm regards and compliments on the work, especially for the second movement. However, I also heard regrets that the interlude required a trumpet soloist. I remembered the words of Mr. Tagawa, who had collaborated with me on works such as"And Then the Ocean Glows" and"Hymn to the Infinite Sky". Ten years earlier he suggested that I arrange that movement for full band so that it could be more widely enjoyed. Though I agreed then, only now have I had the chance to realize this idea, as Mr. Tagawa presented me with the opportunity of this musical creation and world premier.This new arrangement was entitled "Sentimentale" by Mr. Tagawa. I composed the piece with his constant consultation, discussing grade level and instrumentation, and how the work should be a chorale etude for both concert and daily training. The Celtic poem The Voyage of Bran was the inspiration for this fantasy work by Bert Appermont. The subject of this composition is Febal, who - together with his companions - travels to the "otherworld", also known asthe Island of the Blessed, where he finds nothing but sun and prosperity. The sections, called Isle of Joy, Land of the Women and The Feast intermingle with Song of the Otherworld, which acts as a sort of leitmotif.

Because everyone thinks that he's a heartless and evil beast, they run away from him every time they see him. Sometimes he appears at the surface of the sea and hope that he would be able to make friends with human. But all he got were severe wounds those made by the sailors who thought that he wanted to attack them. Nobody knows... that all he wants, is just only someone who just treat him like the others, not a beast.

The King of Siam (CB) - Pimpanit Karoonyavanich
Many foreigners who travel to Thailand for the first time always wonder why Thai people love their king so much, even more than their own life. However, that question is quickly answered after they realize how much our king sacrifies his life to develop Thai people's way of living especially the poor ones. He proves that the "love" from his people doesn't come from his birth as the royal family, but from his hard-working. As a Thai composer, Pimpanit wrote this piece out of her love and gratefulness she has to her beloved king of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, in the occasion of his 88 years old birthday. At this moment he already marks 70 years on the throne and he is also the world's longest-reigning living monarch, ascended to the throne. "Siam" was the name of Thailand before 1948.

Promised Land is a serious-sounding, new piece for the developing band that sounds much more difficult than it plays, allowing your students to show off while remaining at their ability level. The title has its roots in the ideals of John Humphrey Noyes, who founded the Oneida community in the late 1840s. He built a thriving agricultural and spiritual community that became his "promised land." The music depicts the struggles and triumph of those first settlers in the area, who worked the land and fought for their ideals through much persecution. Promised Land contains all of the rhythmic interest and memorable motives that Sean's music is so known for. It is also an excellent choice for contest/festival.
