Gemini Concerto was commissioned by and written for Ryukoku University (Japan), Andr Henry and Shoichiro Hokazono. Set in three movements, the concerto aims to explore the close relationship, as solo instruments, between the trumpet and euphonium, exploiting the many common factors between the two as well as the subtly different characteristics they possess in terms of both lyrical and rhythmic playing. The first movement is a bustling toccata and the second movement is lyrical and improvisatory in nature. A fantastic piece and a great addition to the repertoire!

Smash the Windows is a vigorous piece full of energy and motion. The work is based on a traditional Irish jig with the same name. Robert Xavier Rodrguez calls the piece a toccata moto perpetuo, the music gradually builds from its quiet beginning to a brilliant flourish that, with sound effects, truly befits the title. The series was started as a response to feedback from music educators that there is a pressing need for new, fresh band music. The heart of this program is new works written by a diverse group of leading American composers who have created challenging pieces that are a true departure from standard middle school repertoire. Every BandQuest project includes a residency component in which the composer works collaboratively with a middle school as they create their new piece.Many BandQuest pieces are accompanied by an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to assist students as they learn the music and to integrate each piece with non-music studies. Concertino for Organ - Thomas Trachsel
This work was created by an order from the wind orchestra Feldmusik Sarnen and its conductor Rolf Schumacher on the occasion of his anniversary concert in the Hofkirche in Lucerne. The organist at the premiere was the organist of the court church Wolfgang Sieber. I tried to illuminate the Hofkirche and its organ in all three movements. In the Toccata the full force of the organ becomes clear, while in the second movement one is reminded more of praying monks in the cloister. In the final, all important topics are processed again. The organ part is very difficult to master, the accompaniment in the wind orchestra should be feasible for a wind orchestra grade 4 (approx. 1st class). (Edition Symphonic Works)

The title refers to the historical period that marked the transition between the baroque and classical styles. Rococo music is characterised by a profusion of ornaments, by graceful elegance and lightness of writing. Concerto Rococ consists of three movements: Toccata, Elegie and Gigue en Rondeau - typical musical forms of that time. The concerto is very demanding on the technique of the soloist, but consequently highlights the flute's agility and lyricism.

Concerto for Horn and Band was written on commission from the horn player Miguel Martinez Megias and the symphonic concert band La Armnica from Buol, Spain. This four-movement work, written to fully explore the capabilities of the hornas a solo voice, is comprised of a dramatic Sarabande, a highly virtuoso Toccata, a wonderful Romance and a Finale that reworks the second movement in a kind of fugue and brings the work to a spectacular close. The basicbuilding block of this concerto, quite fittingly, is the fifth: you only have to think of the post horn or a hunting theme, which conjures up the sound of the perfect fifth. Wonderful new repertoire for a wonderful instrument.

Choral Music - Jacob de Haan
Jacob de Haan was commissioned to write Choral Music a concert band from Dinxperlo (Netherlands). This band gave the work its premiere in 1997 during the World Music Contest in Kerkrade. Choral Music is based on the chorale Sollt ich meinem Gott nicht singen by the seventeenth century German composer Johann Schop. Contrary to the title, Choral Music has nothing in common with a traditional choral arrangement. This contrasting work has a flashing beginning and only much later following on several thematic changes does Jacob de Haan allow the chorale melody to develop into its original form. Following this episode the chorale becomes a toccata developing into a whirlwind finish.
