Children'S March Over The Hills And Far Away - Percy Aldridge Grainger

Percy Grainger's extraordinary scoring skills permeate this classic, carefree work for symphonic band. Children's March: Over the Hills and Far Away, originally a piano solo, was orchestrated by the composer while he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Artillery Band. It includes two unusual scoring elements for the time - a prominent part for piano (cued in the winds), and brief four-part vocal interludes to be sung by members of the band (or a small chorus ad lib). Grainger believed that the greatest expressivity could be found in the lower instruments of the band (particularly the lower woodwinds), and Children's March includes a liberal and highly specialized use of the bassoons, English horn, bass clarinet and low saxophones. The march was first performed by the renowned Goldman Band in 1919, and was recorded in its original form by the same band with the composer conducting. (Full set includes a vocal score.)

Bahumba (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sciaino, Peter

Bahumba is a nonsense word but a no-nonsense selection for concert band. The word stems from a sound composer Peter Sciaino heard coming from an idling car. The engine, clearly having issues, had an "uneven" gate or pulse. He mindlessly heard the word "Bahumba" within the sounds emerging from the struggling motor. Just like an engine, an ensemble can attain a smooth groove even if "uneven" in terms of pulse. While the percussionists are often asked to provide this groove under the melodic lines, they ultimately break out with a feature that essentially places a percussion ensemble within the context of a concert band piece. Il Est Ne, le Divin Enfant (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Noble & Willcocks

Il est n, le divin Enfant (English: He is born, the divine Child) is a traditional French Christmas carol, which was published for the first time in 1862. The text of the carol, which is written in four stanzas, details the birth of Jesus and the wait of 4000 years for the event, as told by the prophets. It both observes the humility of God's birth in a stable and calls on the Kings of the Orient to attend the child. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

Barnum and Bailey's Fractured Favorite (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - King, Karl L. - Leslie, Thomas G.

When Karl King was conducting circus bands he would frequently edit his marches so the same composition could be used for contrasting acts (for example a lion act one time, and a trapeze act the next). In the same spirit, Thomas Leslie has creatively repurposed this familiar march to suit an imaginary clown act; complete with novelty percussion sounds and a few surprises sprinkled in. A bit outrageous, but definitely fun!Duration: 2:30
