Red Lines (CB) - Stijn Aertgeerts
Red Lines was commissioned by the Swiss Army Brass Band and their conductor Philipp Werlen. The title is a reference to their very distinctive black uniforms with Red vertical lines. Switzerland is a country with a tremendously rich brass band culture and have some of the best bands in the world. The individual level of musicians is also of incredibly high quality. The work begins very bombastically with continuous 8th notes. This immediately sets the drive for the entire first movement where the low brass and woodwinds can also show off huge sounds several times. It culminates in a grand tutti before the music calms down in the second movement where the euphonium can show its solistic qualities and the band can show a big difference in dynamics and sound. The final movement is driven by the drums and timpani that provide a solid boost to keep moving the thematic material forward in the band and through the percussion solo a big build-up to a glorious finale.

Panic Button (CB) - Paul Saggers
Panic Button was commissioned by Bert Van Thienen especially for 2022 World Music Contest in Kerkrade (NL). The composer was given complete freedom musically, however, he was given two conditions. First, it had to be an atypical work, a composition that puts the orchestra in a different perspective than the traditional repertoire and be suitable for both concert and competition stages. Second, it had to give the musicians the opportunity to go completely wild for a while. On the one hand, to shake off any stress and, on the other, to give them energy for the rest of the program. This composition reflects the three phases of a snowstorm: Snow Warning, Snow Fall, and Playing in the Snow. Drawing from the composer's experience in the northern United States, the piece begins with the anxiety of a snowstorm warning, portrayed through clear and rhythmic playing. The second phase represents snowflakes gently falling, with the energy growing without rushing. The final phase captures the joy of playing in the snow after the storm has passed, with a light-hearted, celebratory feeling.

Echoes of the Riverbank is a two-movement work dedicated to the late composer Mark Williams and mentor Harry D. Blake. The first movement, Lament (Hymn), creates a reflective and serene atmosphere through rich harmonies and tender melodies, representing the peaceful flow of memories. The second movement, Waves of Valor (March), contrasts with the first, bursting forth with energy and vitality to celebrate Blake's vibrant spirit. This movement features rhythmic buoyancy and spirited melodies, culminating in a jubilant climax. £71.00The New Corn Palace - Karl L. King
The New Corn Palace is a famous attraction in Mitchell, SD. Originally built to house the annual community harvest festival, the new ornate building opened in 1921 and became a premier venue for area symphonies and concert bands. Fort Dodge (IA) Band rang in the inaugural celebration, under the direction of Karl King, who composed this work for the occasion.In keeping with King's circus march tradition, a bold D minor introduction and first strain leads to a contrasting F major second strain, lyrical trio, and minor key break strain. This new edition condenses the five original trumpet parts into three parts, and re-scores the saxophones to meet modern standards, with additional percussion editing.

Playable by as few as 5 winds and 4 percussion, this beginning band piece depicts a lone warrior beginning a journey across an ancient land. This solitary warrior is joined by others on the way, and together they defend those who cannot defend themselves. Less than two minutes long and using only the first 6 notes of the Bb concert scale, this is a great choice for a second semester concert and for bands with limited instrumentation. Use this piece to develop articulation technique and listening skills between the ensemble's sections. A great choice for concert and contest.

£56.00Tropanka and Patsh Tantz
This two-movement work is sure to be a hit at your next concert! The first movement, Tropanka (pronounced "tro-PAHN-kuh"), translates as "stomping dance" and originated in Bulgaria. One can hear two repeated notes at the end of each phrase - this is where the dancers stomp! The second movement, Patsh Tantz (pronounced "PAHTSH tahnts") is a classic example of Klezmer, or Eastern European Jewish folk music. The title of this movement is Yiddish for "clapping dance", and all the players get the chance to clap at certain points in their individual parts. Both movements should be played rhythmically; adding weight to many of the downbeats will help bring out the "earthy" character of the music.

Based on the "Bird Catcher's" aria from Mozart's The Magic Flute, this percussion feature uses instruments commonly found in most elementary school's percussion supplies. While the percussion is featured, the rest of the band has plenty of opportunities to learn about first and second endings, dynamics, crescendos and Mozart's impact upon the development of musical history.
