Paseo (Oboe Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob

Paseo is a Spanish word for a leisurely walk or stroll. The soloist takes the musical line for a walk with no great sense of hurry. There is one moment where the pleasantness of the stroll is threatened but it quickly passes and the good mood is resumed. Technically this needs a good sense of cantabile and control over the range from low D to D two octaves higher. In order to allow the oboe soloist to sing through without fighting the accompaniment, the saxophones, trumpets and percussion have been omitted.Duration: 4.15

Color Concordia (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jan

Concordia was the Roman goddess of concord or unity. To convey the unity among their musicians, many music societies over the years, including the band that commissioned this composition, have chosen this name. The literal translation of Color Concordia is colour harmony. Consequently, the composer has gratefully used the many ranges of colouring of the concert band for the instrumentation of this work. He based the thematic material on the four note names in Concordia: C, C, D and A, resulting in a brilliant piece of music that will suit any band.Duration: 10.15

Celtic Lullaby (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Nobes, Geoffrey

Celtic Lullaby was composed after a recent visit to the beautiful Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. The beauty of the island, its mountains and glens, the lovely seascape around Holy Isle and the gentle rise and fall of the hills are all hopefully reflected in the music; the final few bars bring to mind one of Arran's radiant sunsets as night gently falls over the western sea.Duration: 4.00

Dragon Fight (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.

At the best viewpoint over the Alps of Liechtenstein, the village of Guflina is situated. Underneath the overhanging ledge, there is said to have been a cave in the mountain. In it lived a terrible dragon that was on the rampage on the surrounding meadows, spreading fear and terror among the population. At the same time there lived a giant man up in Guflina, who had the strength of twelve normal men. The farmers implored him to help them in their distress. The giant ventured to fight the dragon and was lying in wait above the cave. When the dragon refused to appear, the giant threw stones into the entrance of the cave. They got into a fight, which the giant only just won with difficulty. Since that day, people have lived in peace and prosperity.Duration: 7.15
