Although the piece is not one of the most difficult, it nevertheless places high musical demands on the soloist. Following an impressive orchestral opening the soloist comes to the fore, with long phrases followed by more dynamic and rhythmic passages. The second movement gives evidence of extreme sensitivity and offers the soloist the opportunity to prove that the trumpet (flugel horn) can be a stirring and emotional instrument. The third movement is the most spectacular. The orchestra actively participates with increasingly delicate interventions. The soloist can display all the possibilities offered to him by his instrument. With a long sostenuto on the trumpet (flugel horn) the beautiful rhapsody ends.Duration: 6:00

Claribelle (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Claribelle is fairly unique as a solo piece as rather than using one soloist it uses the whole clarinet section to play the solo part. . The composition is characterised by a fast tempo and by a theme which primarily consists of scale patterns that create a virtuoso character. Wim Laseroms wrote the piece in ABA-form with the accompaniment in the middle section having a somewhat more lyric character than that of the first and last sections. In the coda, the solo and the accompaniment join forces and conclude this short work in style with a brilliant fortissimo. 03:00

He jokingly told his fellow band members that one day he would write a piece to celebrate this mouth watering experience. An exceptional debut composition by a teenaged Japanese composer, it's a very impressive work that is going to be a big hit with bands everywhere. The opening movement features lively rhythms and tuneful melodies and includes an energy which will appeal to students and audiences alike! A delightful slower section includes solos for flute and trumpet which lay very well for those instruments. All in all, it's an effective piece that is a great concert or festival choice and an excellent teaching piece for any mid-level band. This one is special!
