The Herald Angels Sing has been integrated in its entirety, so that it can also be performed with choir and/or community singing. This piece was inspired by the composer watching his young son, Benny, playing 'soldiers' with his collection of teddy bears - how appropriate! But it made him think of the many character pieces which take the form of a 'toy march', the most notable examples being by Haydn, Tchaikovsky and Leon Jessel. Parade of the Clockwork Soldiers is in the form of a 'patrol' (starting and ending quietly with a louder middle) and aims to represent a band marching past the listener. In fact, where the hall layout permits it, it could be possible to add a little choreography to the piece, starting and ending with only a few instruments on stage.Duration: 4:30

This original composition is based on a wildlife research study which took place in Malaysia's largest national park, the Taman Negara. Researchers embarked on an expedition in the jungle tracking that wildest of wild animals, the tiger. Despite spending nearly three years in the rainforest, the researchers never saw a single tiger, hence the "ghost" aspect of the title. The composer's intent in this composition is to take you on an expedition tour and emulate the experience of the jungle. The work is characterized with mysterious melodic themes intertwined with exciting bold flashes of sound. Ghosts of Taman Negara is an embracing and emotional addition to the young band literature from the pen of Victor Lopez. Duration: 4.30

The opening phrase on solo clarinet appears throughout the piece and could be seen as the central idea of the work, the human spirit itself. The faster, central section is about the struggle to overcome the pain we experience and at bar 88 the moment of catharsis occurs.
