£204.99So Nata Per Te - Ferrer Ferran
So Nata Per Te -- or Naci para ti in Spanish -- translates as "I was born for you". This symphonic suite is inspired by Pepe Domingo, a great music enthusiast and lover of life who wanted to commemorate his long and happy marriage to his dear wife, Concha. He commissioned Ferrar Ferran to set to music the great bond of their partnership: the couple will be able to close their eyes and relive through the music their most precious memories one by one.So Nata Per Te is a suite of many contrasts. Its contemporary, modern flavours are entertaining while the colourful variations are exciting and fascinating. Audience members may recall happy memories in their ownlives listening to the delightful, famous tunes that appear throughout the work and, although somewhat different from the originals, they are easily recognisable.Ferrer Ferran dedicated this work to Pepe Domingo and his wife Concha not only for their great enthusiasm and passion for music, but also for their mutual love. Dr. J (Pi) Scheffer was the leader of the famous Dutch AVRO Radio Big Band 'The Skymasters' in the 50's, as well as also being an English teacher. He also had a huge success with his composition for wind band 'Three Inventions', not only in Europe but also in the USA. £214.80Concerto for Bass Clarinet and Band - Kees Vlak
This is Kees Vlak's most ambitious composition. Before writing this work, the composer listened for many hours to a most gifted bass clarinet player. So he discovered that the instrument ranges over five octaves and needs a lighter blow than the ordinary B flat clarinet. The sonority of the instrument in the upper register really charmed the composer. All these elements deeply influenced the composition. The cadenza requires a fine technique and a real artistic feeling from the soloist. Part 1 is written in a sonata form with a cadenza. Part 2 is written in a song form. Part 3 is a scherzo with many mutations. For instance, the repeat starts with the second theme, whereas the initial theme concludes the work.

£90.30A Christmas Dance Party - M. Carros
Michel Carros wrote a fine swinging arrangement of some famous Christmas Songs. In fact he presents some Christmas evergreens in different dance rhythms. The party starts with the German carol O Tannenbaum and the American evergreen Jingle Bells both played in a swinging foxtrot tempo. Jingle Bells is subsequently performed in a genuine Dixieland style, before the foxtrot rhythm comes back. Next comes the German Christmas song O du frhliche and to conclude, still in swinging foxtrot tempo, we hear the celebrated French carol Il est n le divin enfant (Gloria in Excelsis).

£116.40Meistersinger von Nurnberg - Richard Wagner
In 1867 Richard Wagner completed his only comic opera 'Die Meistersnger von Nrnberg' (The Mastersingers of Nuremberg) for which he himself had written the libretto, based on the 'Nuremberg Chronicles' from 1697 by Johann Christoph Wagenseil. The plot is partly historical, partly romantic and partly satirical. The prelude is based on some of the main themes of the opera; it starts with the impressive martial processional theme of the Mastersingers and also boasts a passionate love theme as well as the famous contest song which the hero, Walter, has to sing in order to win both the contest and his beloved Eva's hand. Willem Steijn wrote this fine arrangement for symphonic band.
