Ouverture Allemande - Thomas Doss
This festive overture by the Austrian composer Thomas Doss, whose father was German, is intended to be a symbol of the friendship between Germany and Austria, and the countries that border on these two states. In times of union and cooperation, the European thinking should be one of tolerance and openness when it comes to national identities and cultures. European culture has many faces - that is what makes it unique. The shadows of the past, however, should never be forgotten, but they must not obscure the present and the future. Many ghosts wander through this overture, and those who listen carefully will also hear a great master of classical music ghost around. Acreative new opening work for any concert.

Story of a Village - André Waignein
This work relates the story of Maasbracht, a town on the banks of the Meuse River in the Dutch province of Limburg. Like all fairy tales, the story begins serenely with ?Once upon a time?? The music evokes the atmosphere of this very pleasant region, where the gentle way of life is the key to happiness. A lively and joyful passage depicts the cheerfulness of the people of Maasbracht. Maasbracht, like many other towns, suffered during World War II: sound colours darken and pictures of destruction run through our mind. In the midst of despair there is hope, from grief comes new life. The future looks promising. The work leaves Maasbracht, looking forward to the 21st century withconfidence. A highly descriptive work that is suitable for any concert or contest situation.

Orbis - Kevin Houben
The word "orbis" means an orbit or a path, and in this case represents the direction of three wind ensembles as they join together. A triumphant opening to Orbis alludes to the history of these three ensembles, before a heroic theme is played that symbolises their strong future. The middle section is based on a charming melody that represents the three individual ensembles growing together. Orbis is a piece that musicians, as individuals and as a group, can identify with!

The Universal Band Collection - Jacob de Haan
A collection of 5 short works in pop style which can be performed by any kind of compilation. The titles can be presented on the programme as separate works but the Universal Band Collection can also be performed as a complete suite. From a didactic point of view it is a suitable work to teach musicians something about the structure in music. For this purpose not only the big structure but also the small structure was kept very clear.Western Girl : A girl from the west of the USA rides her horse across the prairie, dreaming of her future. The rough structure: introduction - theme in a blues scale - the same thing in a different instrumentation - finale.Just a ballad : A balladin pop style with a rough A-B-A form. First there is the introduction of the main theme (A), then follows a tenor melody in minor with a rhythmical reference to the main theme (B). Finally there is the main melody, performed tutti with a different rhythm in the drums (A').Play the Game : An English saying meaning: play fairly. Playful music in up-tempo with a wink to China, where almost all games are manufactured nowadays. Once again an A-B-A structure here.San Diego : A Mexican fugitive enjoys his freedom in America but also remembers his place of birth with melancholy. A sad minor melody with a straight trendy beat appears twice. The second time it has a slightly different instrumentation, in which the muted trumpets represent the Mexican feeling.Final Dance : Eventually there is a dance with an introduction in renaissance style, followed by a fast dance in rock style. All this composed in a classical song structure: introduction, verse, bridge, chorus, shortened verse, bridge, chorus, chorus.

Young Pheasants in the Sky - Satoshi Yagisawa
This fantastic, stirring fanfare was written with the composer?s wish that the young musicians performing it would fly into the bright future like pheasants. The first part of the piece is a fanfare, which is suitable for opening ceremonies, and the second part is a lush chorale-like movement. Your band can perform both parts together or you could perform each one separately. This short opening work will start any concert in real style.

Symphonic Episode I - Satoshi Yagisawa
The title's meaning is two-fold: as a letter, I stands for the Japanese Iwata Band Association. As a number, I represents Satoshi Yagisawa's hope that this is only the first in a future series of works. Symphonic Episode Iprovides rich contrast between its various slow and fast sections, with the slow movement exemplifying Yagisawa's great ability to write warm and emotionally inspired music. Dur: 6:35
