Three English Folk Dances - James Curnow
This nicely paced and skillfully orchestrated suite characterizes the three main categories of ancient English folk dances. The opening Sword Dance is lively in nature and contrasts with the WaltzSong style of the second movement. The concluding movement is a Morris Dance, typified by a rustic nature and dancers with pads of bells to accentuate the rhythm. The result is an elegant work for band with vibrance and energy. The composition therefore has a first movement entitled "Joyful Dance," the second movement is "Simple Song," and the final movement is a "Celebration." Divertimento - Oliver Waespi
This grand work contains four contrasting movements. The first movement, Prelude, takes the form of an overture: it raises the curtains and marks the beginning of the piece. The brilliant motifs of the opening are contrasted by a calmer and more lyrical central section, after which the triumphant opening returns for the movement's end. The second movement, Meditation, explores the intimate sounds of the oboe, as well as those of the flute and French horn, backed by a rich orchestral accompaniment. The third movement presents a more upbeat Procession, but not a Procession of the Nobles, as written by Rimsky-Korsakov. Quite the opposite, Procession resembles a "second line"procession from New Orleans, whose up-beat rhythms invite everyone to dance in the streets rather than the measured pacing of a march. Divertimento ends with a Hoedown, the tradition American folk dance idiom, when the band has the opportunity for both vivacity and virtuosity and may play as fast as it can. It is important to play all four movements with precision, clarity and, most importantly, enthusiasm.

Siciliano and Tarantella (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Oare, Michael
This distinctive work by Michael Oare is based on two Italian dance forms dating back to the Baroque period. Siciliano opens with a delicate 6/8 melody in the flutes which is developed and passed around to various sections of the band. In contrast, Tarantella is a brash and uptempo dance featuring a rhythmic pulse accompanying the flowing melodic lines. Quite a nice pairing of tunes with historical importance. Duration: 4.30

The Perfect Fool, The Ballet from (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Holst, Gustav - Noble, Paul

This arrangement consists of the three distinct dances: Dance of Spirits of Earth, Dance of Spirits of Water, and Dance of Spirits of Fire. In Dulci Jubilo (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Noble & Rutter
One night in 1328, the German mystic and Dominican monk Henrich Suso (or Seuse) had a vision in which he joined angels dancing as the angels sang to him Nun singet und seid froh or In Dulci Jubilo. In Suso's biography (or perhaps autobiography), it was written: Now this same angel came up to the Servant [Suso] brightly, and said that God had sent him down to him, to bring him heavenly joys amid his sufferings; adding that he must cast off all his sorrows from his mind and bear them company, and that he must also dance with them in heavenly fashion. Then they drew the Servant by the hand into the dance, and the youth began a joyous song about the infant Jesus, which runs thus: 'In dulci jubilo', etc. In Dulci Jubilo is among the oldest and most famous of the macaronic songs, one which combines Latin and a vernacular language such as English or German. Five hundred years later, this carol became the inspiration for the 1853 English paraphrase by John Mason Neale, Good Christian Men, Rejoice. Perhaps the earliest English version appeared c.1540. That popularity has endured for nearly 700 years. It's the rare contemporary collection of Christmas carols that doesn't contain a carol based on this ancient jewel.
