Miami - Henry Fillmore
Padre Martini was musical director in Bologna and a respected teacher of composition with whom studied Johann Christian Bach among others.Martini's compositions, between baroque and rococo as to style, are considered to be excellent works of Italian music of that time. The violoncello is treated by Martini as concertante instrument. The viola part can also be played by a third violin.

Lightning Fingers - Henry Fillmore
Lightning Fingers showcases the musical and technical virtuosity of the solo clarinetist in this original work by legendary bandmaster and composer Henry Fillmore. It is a happy, showy display piece which has been enjoyed by generations of performers and audiences alike. The solo was written for Louise Reztke, who Fillmore referred to as the Phantom Clarinetist. Reztke was the soloist for Fillmore's own band and was featured many times on their radio broadcasts. Catawba Crossing - William G. Harbinson
Named for the beautiful Catawba River, this piece begins with a brilliant fanfare, revealing the principle motive upon which the entire composition is based. Shifting tonalities and colorful scoring are the hallmark of the opening section. This is followed by an expressive con moto section that provides the piece with dramatic contrast. Once the opening theme returns, Catawba Crossing develops into a rousing march in 6/8 time, followed by a return to the opening material, bringing the piece to an exciting conclusion. Vires, Artes, Mores - Larry Clark
This work is a three-part composition based on the Latin words meaning Strength, Skill, and Character. The piece opens with a poignant fanfare depicting the strength of the modern concert band, which is followed by a fast-paced section, meant to demonstrate the performers' skills. The third section of the work is an uplifting theme designed to depict character. After moving back to the skill theme in a new key, it builds to a dramatic climax, followed by a short coda that bursts to the finish. Ideal for concert or contest.

Legacy of Honor - Larry Clark

After the exciting first section, a lyrical second theme departs to something beautiful and lush in harmonic structure. The development section is based on the opening theme, eventually leading the piece back, followed by a dynamic brass flourish in the coda. Festive Dances - Robert Thurston
Robert Thurston's enormously attractive writing for band and his sure command of contemporary harmonic and rhythmic devices give this three movement composition by terrific band and audience appeal. Thurston's fondness for mixed meters will keep players on their toes. The 2nd movement (moderato) in particular has a memorable folk-like lilt and charm. The whole piece is bound together by the use of the motto C-E-C, the initials of the composer's teacher, the late great band writer Charles E. Carter, in whose memory Festive Dances was written.
