The Four Winds by Evan Hause for Concert Band. The Four Winds is an homage by the composer to some of the well-known band composers, such as Clifton Williams and John Barnes Chance, as well as earlier wind masters like Holst and Mahler. Evan Hause was a student of William Bolcom, and his more advanced band work, Tango Variations, has been performed and recorded by some of the top university ensembles. This fantasy-overture is appropriate for the intermediate high school band, contrasting brisk fanfare music with variations on a Romantic theme. (Grade 4) Dur: 6:00.

Euphoria - Wim Laseroms
Euphoria is a bracing composition which concentrates its energy on the baritones/euphoniums. The solo parts require at least two soloists. This piece opens with a syncopated introduction followed by a statement of the simple melodic theme interpreted by the baritones/euphoniums. The style of performance is particularly affected by the alternation of staccato and legato passages. The finale of this work develops through a progression of accelerandos and crescendos leading to an amazing conclusion.

In Memoriam: For the Fallen was commissioned by Bolsover District Council for the Bolsover Brass Summer School 2014. It is a setting for narrator and band of Laurence Binyon's (1869-1943) poem, For the Fallen, which was first published in The Times in September 1914. Binyon was dismayed at the outbreak of war and especially concerned by the large number ofcasualties suffered by the British Expeditionary Force in the early months of the battle on the Western Front. Too old to enlist, he volunteered as a hospital orderly in France. The poem is known world-wide as the famous fourth stanza (They shallgrow not old...) has become a regular part of Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day services.In Memoriam: For the Fallen is a musical accompaniment to the poem, shadowing the mood of each stanza.

Credo - Fisher Tull
As implied by the title, Credo is in the nature of a profession of faith. Organized in a tripartite form, the opening section presents a four-note motif contrasted with a chorale-like melody in the woodwinds. The slower middlesection is more contrite and reflective, the polyphonic texture in the woodwinds being imitated by a similar setting in the brasses. The final section employs development of the material from the first section in a fugal settingleading to a climactic affirmation followed by a resolute ending. (5:30)
