An exceptional debut composition by a teenaged Japanese composer, it's a very impressive work that is going to be a big hit with bands everywhere. The opening movement features lively rhythms and tuneful melodies and includes an energy which will appeal to students and audiences alike! A delightful slower section includes solos for flute and trumpet which lay very well for those instruments. All in all, it's an effective piece that is a great concert or festival choice and an excellent teaching piece for any mid-level band. This one is special!

Another outstanding young band overture by the writer of ABINGTON RIDGE. This piece has just the right combination of changing meters and rhythmic variety to make it a really big hit with your students. Interesting melodic lines and fresh, vibrant harmonies in the slow section provide the imaginative musical content for which Ed Huckeby has become so well known. Highly recommended for contest or as a dramatic concert feature.

Monsters all around the world are waking up to a calling to unite. Some are big, hairy creatures, and others are delicate and fairy-like. They walk and fly long distances to find each other. In the end, they all come together, marching as one. Just when you think they've marched off into the distance, they come together to surprise the audience. Unique percussion effects, timpani glissando and theremin (or flexatone) add to the spooky sound. The expression comes from the great poet Bjornstjerne Bjornson where he in the poem Siste sang (Last song) describes a battle between a tiger and a horse. The tiger symbolizes the big city (Oslo) while the horse symbolizes the countryside, ie the traditional battle city vs country. Hence Oslo (Kristiania) got the negative nickname Tigerstaden (Tiger City), but as time went on, the name established itself as something positive and familiar, and has become a beloved nickname, without negative associations, in the Capital. Composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have once again written music for Disneys sequel film Frozen II after great success in 2013 with Frozen. Many will probably remember Let it Go which became a big hit from this movie. The new movie continue to follow the main character Elsa, who sings her amazing musical number "Into the Unknown" in Frozen II. The song describes Elsa's inner conflict of choice to leave Arendelle or trace the source of a mysterious voice she continues to hear. The song is originally sung by Idina Menzel and the Norwegian artist Aurora and has elements and motifs inspired by Scandinavian herding calls. As always, the music is both magnificent and captivating and will surely be a hit for many years to come. Duration: 3.00
