New World Dances (Concert Band - Score only) - Ellerby, Martin
Cast in three short movements the work endeavours to recreate the pioneering spirit of the journey across America (the then 'New World') as this vast continent was opened up and its wonders exposed. The three dance episodes that make up the suite are symbolic in an analogous sense to this 'reaching' principle: the first - Earth Dance - is a vigorous overture, pushing out the frontiers; the interlude - Moon Dance - contemplates the huge distances to be crossed and Sun Dance represents the realisation of the American dream, rhythmic and full of energy. Written in affectionate tribute to America and its people, New World Dances was rather symbolically completed on July 4th!Grade 6Performance time 8'45"Recorded on QPRM134D The Kings Go Forth, Central Band of the Royal Air Force

Lough Leane (CB) - Stijn Aertgeerts
Lough Leane was commissioned by "Koninklijke Harmonie De Verenigde Vrienden - Bree" as a musical tribute to their president Luc De Bruyne. The work attempts to portray the beauty of Lough Leane, Killarney's largest lake in Ireland. The dense chords represent a mysterious layer of fog above the lake. Gradually the sun rises and that fog disappears, revealing the beautiful nature around the lake and on the islands. Throughout the whole work the Irish influence is very noticeable. Hopefully Lough Leane can make you dream away at the beautiful scenery in one of the most beautiful countries in the world!

Legacy - Andreas Ziegelbäck
"Legacy" is a festive concert opener by Austrian composer Andreas Ziegelbck, written for the inauguration of the new rehearsal hall of the Werkskapelle Laufen Gmunden-Engelhof. The composer shares a close friendship with the band - a bond, like any structure, built on a strong foundation. This is symbolized by the pure intervals of the fourth and fifth in the main theme. At bar 18, a lyrical Andante appassionato expresses trust and unity. The new hall is a milestone and a legacy for future generations. With fanfares, warm harmonies, and a powerful finale, the piece becomes a musical tribute to shared creativity and community.

Popov's Parade - Duncan Stubbs
Combining references to 20th-century Russian music with slapstick humour, 'Popov's Parade' is a humble tribute to a great international artist, Oleg Popov, one of the world's best-known clowns. The quote from Schubert's March Militaire parodies Stravinsky's use of this same fragment in his own Circus Polka. Suitable for intermediate level (Grade 3/4) Symphonic Wind Band.

Faber Suite - Michele Grassani
Faber is the ancient Latin name that was used to designate artisans. The Suite, which is divided into three movements, pays tribute to them, in the hope that their activities will not completely disappear. The first movement (Maestoso) represents the carpenter who, after completing his creation admires it with satisfaction. The second movement (Adagio) describes the work of the tailor: the first part is more meditative and portrays the use of needle and thread, while the second, characterized by forceful rhythmic strettos, describes the ancient and complex use of the weighted loom. The last movement (Presto), characterized by irregular rhythms and constant changes of tempo, introduces us to a blacksmith's shop full of intense and loud metallic noises.
