This work consists of three movements that flow over into each other. A short melodious introduction is followed by a rhythmic passage whereby the theme is played in canon. In the melancholic and moving middle part, various instruments are given the opportunity to present themselves. Subsequently, a reprise of the first part with slight variations is played. Impressionist composer Claude Debussy wrote his set of Prludes for the piano between 1909 and 1913. In their entirety, his Prludes total 24 individual pieces in two volumes. It is from these that Karel Deseure has selected fivepreludes for his Cinq Prludes. La fille aux cheveux de lin is probably the most well-known of the five (and Debussy's 24).Deseure approached each prelude as being musically independent of the others. Consequently, they do not have to be played in a specific order or even as a complete set. It is worth noting that in Debussy's original edition the titles wereprinted at the end each prelude, almost like a footnote, so the performer could look at themusic without being influenced by Debussy's descriptive titles. The Prludes also demonstrate Debussy's superb orchestration skills. Deseure took great care orchestrating these five preludes so he could capture and convey their original character and mood as accurately as possible. The original key signatures were kept and only very minute changes were made to the pitchesthemselves, such as occasional octave doublings to fill out the ensemble.

December Sky - Erik Morales
'On a crisp, cold night in December, she gazes upward and stands in awe of the heavens. She realizes that the earth is only a tiny part of something greater.' This scenario provides the backdrop for this composition, which wasinspired by the night sky as viewed by my six-year-old from our home in Louisiana. It begins with the theme in the clarinets. The rest of the ensemle gradually reveals itself, as if one discovers a star not previously noticed inthe sky. The music reaches its climax at measure 34, where we are humbled by the sheer multitude of stars in the sky and realize our place in the universe. The piece ends with twinkling stars portrayed in the flute, oboe,clarinet,and bells.

In this four-movement suite, every moment sings of a different type of French wine. All these wines have their origins in the little French village of Savigny-les-Beaune in Burgundy and are made by wine-grower Pierre Guillemot. It was theexcellent quality of the wines that inspired Rob Goorhuis into writing this composition. The first three movements deal with three red wines made of the Pinot Noir grape which all bear the Premier Cru designation. The final movement wasinspired by a white wine made of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. The work calls to mind an important event from the history of the city Coesfeld in Germany: the battle of Varlar, which took place in the year 1454. The composition presents us with a bird's eye view of the events: First of all, the consecration of the chapel on the Klinkenberg mountain is set to music in a hymn, after which the trumpets and trombones announce the imminent battle. In the subsequent fray not only the sounds of sabres and rapiers can clearly be heard but also the wailing of the wounded. When the Duke of Brunswick is wounded and captured by the troops of Walraf, Konrad von Diepen and his men march on Coesfeld in victory. Set against a festive melody, the hymnresounds in full glory.
