£116.40Belcanto Ouverture - Willy Hautvast
This overture has been inspired by the Italian opera and bel canto and this explains why it is extremely melodious. As there is no underlying story, the composition is meant as pure easy listening music. The work starts with an Adagio, a slow canatbile introduction, followed by a lightfooted Allegro Vivo. Then comes the aria, an Andante Rubato which creates a moment of rest. Then the Allegro comes back and the composition ends very joyfully with a short but energetic coda. Finally 'all's well that end's well'.

The march 'Vale de Cambra' was commissioned on the occasion of the centenary celebration of the band of Vale de Cambra (Portugal). Conducted by the composer, was premiered in October 2011, in Vale de Cambra, with about hundred musicians. It begins with a fanfare, rhythmical, thence to the first section, which traditionally develops. With a grand final, as is fitting for a celebration as important as a centenarian, the march creates either in the audience and in the musicians, and during all its duration, an effect of power and excitement to which no one stays indifferent.

The composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) is regarded as Norway's the most important composer and for a large part can be regarded as a miniaturist. He has written famous works such as the Piano Concerto in A minor, the two Peer Gynt suites and the ten keyboard collections Lyrical Pieces. The medley Grieg Highlights uses three of his well-known works: The Piano Concerto in A-minor, Morning Music from Peer Gynt and Norwegian Dance no. 2 from opus 35.

It is a suite of three short 'pictures' that were inspired by several visits to a small part of the American East Coast, an area that provides great extremes in the geography and the people.

Ever Forward, Ever Onward is a wonderful piece written in concert B-flat and only uses notes within the scale. The clarinets do not go over the break. If students have been playing for at least a semester, this piece will be just challenging enough to make them want to work, but not so hard that they give up. The lines are interesting, too, no matter what instrument you can play. Students will love to play this and I hope you have fun. 1st trumpet's highest note is A.
