£137.99A Bluegrass Overture - Philip Sparke
A Bluegrass Overture was commissioned by Gabriel Wooley and funded by a grant from Leslie and Cathy Anderson for the Central Kentucky Concert Band to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2016.This energetic overture opens with an introduction loosely based on 'bluegrass' chords before a slower, legato chorale appears in the clarinets and flutes. This is short-lived and soon a new mood is introduced, based on a repeated-note accompaniment. This leads to the main theme, heavily syncopated with bluesy inflections.A central section features a cantabile melody, which changes key frequently, before the main theme reappears, leading toa triumphal presentation of the earlier chorale melody.

£94.99A New Beginning - Satoshi Yagisawa
A New Beginning begins with a beautiful and sensitive chorale shaping the musical ideas. This chorale builds up to a fast and rhythmical setting, creating a vivid and spectacular feel, with lots of percussion. The instrumentation is versatile and colourful, which makes the piece very pleasant to play and work on for each instrumental group within the band. The music slows down again in the finale, but in a maestoso style. This leads onto a dramatic and impressive ending!

£76.99A Touch of the Union Jack - Mairs
In three movements: 1. Coronation March, 2. Kingsfold and 3. Variations on a Green Theme. Coronation March is in ABA form with just a tip of the hat to William Walton's famous coronation marches written for British monarchs of the 20th century. Kingsfold is a lovely setting of the modal English traditional tune set to the text O Sing a Song of Bethlehem, featuring solos for flute and trumpet with chamber music textures. Variations on a 'Green' Theme begins with a jig in the percussion and reeds before slowly revealing the identity of the theme being varied - Greensleeves. A tour de force for advanced middle school bands or small high school bands.

£57.50A Precixe Prelude And an Excellent March - Thomas Duffy
Playing one wrong note can ruin the performance of a piece, right? Well, composer Thomas Duffy actually wants the performers to make mistakes in this clever composition! The precise imprecision comes to life as students are asked to intentionally play wrong notes in various parts of the march. After performing this work, you and your students will never look at perfection the same way again! Free interdisciplinary curriculum for the piece is available for download at www.BandQuest.org. BandQuest, an exciting series of new music and accompanying curricula for band, is a program published by the American Composers Forum. The series was started as a response to feedback from music educators that there is a pressing need for new, fresh band music. The heart of this program is new works written by a diverse group of leading American composers who have created challenging pieces that are a true departure from standard middle school repertoire. Every BandQuest project includes a residency component in which the composer works collaboratively with a middle school as they create their new piece. Many BandQuest pieces are accompanied by an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to assist students as they learn the music and to integrate each piece with non-music studies. A Haunted Trilogy - J. Johnson
"A Haunted Trilogy" is guaranteed to become a favorite for student and audience alike. Set as a trilogy of three short movements, your band can play one for a quick novelty piece, or all three as a divertimento or program music. "March of the Gremlins" opens the suite with an eerie march. "Tarantella For Trolls" continues the spooky musical fun with a slightly twisted little dance. "Goblin's Gavotte" closes our haunted suite with an ominous romp. It's mischievously impish, looming, conniving, and a great learning piece for chromatics in three different styles. Boo!

£87.99A New Birth Of Freedom - Rob Romeyn
The oratorical genius of Abraham Lincoln changed the course of history with The Gettysburg Address. "A New Birth of Freedom" by Rob Romeyn honors Lincoln's historic vision for the country in the post-Civil War era of reconstruction and dedicates itself to that noble cause. After a short introduction, a rudimentary solo section is featured on a theme that is reminiscent of the fife and drum musical style of Lincoln's time. This theme is developed upon as the music unfolds, gradually building and leading to a glorious, powerful, and dramatic apex. The work then moves to a restatement of that same fife and drum section on which it began, this time leading to a reflective and contemplative conclusion. A truly outstanding work that will bring a touch of class and nobility to any concert or festival performance! Outstanding!

£87.99A Life Well Lived - Rob Romeyn
Every now and then we are fortunate enough to know people who make lasting impressions, seem larger than life, and are just memorable. "A Life Well Lived" by Rob Romeyn, dedicated to the memory of his lifelong friend Jeff Norman, presents a powerful and triumphant message of personal courage, strength, and grace... a true celebration of life. The music begins with a transparent, ethereal quality that seems almost too perfect for this world. From here, a hauntingly beautiful melody is introduced. This melody develops and evolves, finally maturing into a statement of incredible emotion and power. After a breathtaking climax, the intensity subsides, back to the exquisite quality from which the music began, finally ending with a heartfelt spell that will not soon be forgotten. A very emotional, lyrical piece of uncommon quality, not to be overlooked. Our highest recommendation!
