The musical premiered in London's West End in 1999 and is a duet performed by the characters Harry Bright and Donna Sheridan, reflecting on their past romance during a summer spent in Paris.The song is primarily sung by Bjrn Ulvaeus, with backing vocals provided by Agnetha Fltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, the female members of ABBA. Guajira is both a term for a song form, where most people will recognize the song "Guajira Guantanamera," but also a Cuban word for farmer or fieldworker, as there are many of in the eastern Oriente province of Cuba where this rhythm originated. "La Banda de los guajiros" translates directly to "The Guajira Band."It is composed for wind orchestra by Sverre Indris Joner, who already in 1985 traveled to Cuba to learn the secrets of Caribbean music. The rhythms used in this piece are thoroughly explained in the textbook "Latinmusikkens ABC," which is also published by Noteservice/Norsk Musikkforlag.The piece uses traditional elements from Cuban music such as Guajira, Son Montuno, and Danzn, all falling under the genre of salsa.It is recommended that both conductor and percussionists familiarize themselves with the execution of the different rhythm patterns. Instruments like congas and timbales particularly have a range of different rhythm patterns. The role of the guiro instrument cannot be underestimated. Despite its seemingly simple content, it is the glue that holds everything together!

This work of festive atmosphere was written in 2000 for symphonic band, then the composer arranged it for symphony orchestra. In this piece, Lszl Dubrovay (*1943) parts with his special, hallmark concert band effects; rather, lively vibrations enriched with colliding seconds and distant overtones are brought to the foreground. The special sound is coloured by ornamental trills, appearing even in batches, and vibrating collisions in the high registers. The performance is rendered even more unique by the outer trumpets on both sides of the space. The trumpets and the flugelhorns can be divided into ten parts altogether, thus, the piece can be played by one ensemble or several bands together, as it is usual at the conclusion of large-scale festivals. This composition may be a great choice for festive concerts, since it is a solemn, innovative, and - by virtue of the free arrangement of the performing space - special work at the same time.

Mneskin is an Italian rock band that first set foot on the international stage in 2021, when it won the 65th Eurovision Song Contest with Zitti e buoni. 2021 was an excellent year for the group in more ways than one, since they were also declared best rock band at the MTV European Music Awards. ivind Westby has written a number of excellent but demanding instrumental arrangements for Concert Band. In the present one, he has transcribed five of the most famous by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) grew up near Ipanema, the famous beach in Rio de Janeiro. His big break through and most creative period came in the 50's and 60's which gave him the status as the greatest Brazilian composer of all times. Together with Stan Getz and Jo�o and Astrud Gilberto he recorded one of the best selling jazz-albums of all times, an album which feature several of his most famous compositions. His inspiration includes another Brazilian great; Pixinguinha, but also classical composers like Frederick Chopin and Claude Debussy. He died in NYC in 1994 after composing approx. 400 works. He is recognized all over the world as one of the most influential composers of the 20th century.

Each year, a new song is released together with a dance. The purpose is to strengthen the cohesions at schools. The BlimE! In September 1925, on the occasion of the sixty-fifth birthday of their 'master', seven students of Paul Gilson gathered to form the first composers' collective in Belgian national music history. The members of Les Synthtistes (the Synthetists) are Ren Bernier, Francis de Bourguignon, Gaston Brenta, Tho Dejoncker, Marcel Poot, Maurice Schoemaker and Jules Strens. Their intent is twofold and both theoretical and practical. Les Synthtistes want to distinguish themselves as the 'Brussels seven' by breaking away from the prevailing late-romantic music of their time. Their theoretical aim is to synthesize the modern tendencies in music from 1925 onwards, to connect with the 'acquisitions of contemporary music' and to apply them within balanced and well-defined forms. Their practical goal is to make it easier to find a stage to perform their new symphonic music by uniting. In a period when there is no professional symphonic orchestra in Belgium, apart from the opera orchestra, they compose and transcribe their original symphonic works for wind band. They work together with Arthur Prevost and the Royal Band of the Belgian Guides which grew into a model instrumentation of 85 musicians during the interwar period. Thanks to Prevost and the Guides a unique collection of original, modern music for wind band by Les Synthtistes can be heard on the Brussels concert stages during the interwar period. Because only a few works of this unique, forgotten collection of 75 works were published, this unique canon remained largely unknown. Thanks to a historical study of sources by Luc Vertommen, these works for wind band are now, a century after their creation, made accessible and recorded for the first time.
