Castrum Alemorum (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob

The Castle of Allymes, castrum Alemorum, located on a hill in the centre of the seigneury of Allymes (France) is an historic castle dating back to the fourteenth century, rebuilt in the sixteenth century and restored in the nineteenth. This piece evokes an image of the castle, its beautiful location within the surrounding landscape and its importance for the rural district of Ambrieu-en-Bugey. Combining beautiful melodies with rhythmical sections and modern sounds with passages in a renaissance style, this work of Jacob de Haan is an impressive musical challenge that is both fun to play as well as appealing for your audience: as you listen you can almost see the castle before your eyes.Duration: 9.00

Donkey Carol (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul

This scintillating carol in 5/8 meter will offer a pleasant rhythmic challenge to your ensemble, and the results will delight both ensemble and audience. This arrangement is written and intended for combined Wind Band and Chorus. However, it is also arranged so that it is complete with Wind Band alone. The choral part is shown in the conductor's score, but is not a part of the instrumental packet. The arrangement is compatible with the published vocal score. The scoring is done with some cue size notations that should be played if performing without the chorus. This will make a delightful addition to any Christmas or seasonal concert.

Confrontations (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bullock, Jack

Defined, "to oppose a challenge or standing in the way of opposition." In general usage it insinuates that this can likely be resolved and is not as serious as a "fight" or "war." In this music, the composer suggests that a confrontation could be described as a non-harmonic discord which is quickly changed to a pleasing resolution. Energetic percussion contributions enhance this bold contemporary composition.Duration: 5.00

Caramba! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Blezard, William - Noble, Paul

William Blezard began writing Caramba! during a tour of New Zealand. Yet the musical basis of this work is about as far away from Kiwi culture as one can get. The word Caramba has several translations from the Spanish, including Dear Me!, or Goodness Me!, or perhaps more colloquially, Golly, or even Holy cow!. The entire work has an exotic feel to it that is so suggestive of things Spanish or Latin American. This is helped by the extensive use of percussion, and of course the brass is pure Latin American dance style. The demanding piano part is featured as almost a 'concertante'. In the Concert Band arrangement, the piano is highly desirable to replicate the original score, but the arrangement includes enough doubling and a short cut to make the piece entirely playable without the piano. Caramba! has all the hallmarks of a great piece of concert music that pleases as well as excites. For bands that want a challenge that is sure to bring an audience to its feet, Caramba! is the piece!
