Sing Lullaby, also known as The Infant King, is an arrangement of a Basque Carol. The words were translated into English by Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) an Anglican priest and folk song collector. The melody was harmonized by the English organist and music editor Edgar Pettman (1866-1943) who included it with other Basque carols (also rendered by Sabine Baring-Gould) in The University Carol Book in 1922. I use a little of Pettman's harmony but also take a different look. I also set it in 3/4 time rather than Pettman's 6/8 (starting with an anacrusis) which allowed me more freedom of expression and a chance to use a few hemiolas in poignant moments. It is a beautiful, tender carol as befits a lullaby though not without a few suspensions which allude to the future trials of the Infant King described in Baring-Gould's words.- Rob WiffinDuration: 4.15

Oh Carol is an American song written by Neil Sedaka about his then girlfriend Carole Klein, who later called herself Carole King. The song was co-written with Howard Greenfield. After the single was released, it was included on the album Neil Sedaka Sings Little Devil and His Other Hits. Sedaka contributes a spoken restitution of the verse a second time. Sedaka also recorded a Hebrew-language version, written by Chaim Kaynan. The Fastest Mouse in all MexicoSpeedy Gonzales is a well-known cartoon character from the series Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies by Warner Bros. Pictures. This super-fast Mexican mouse with its large yellow sombrero drives both Daffy Duck and the cat Sylvester to distraction time and again. The song that was inspired by the shrewd little mouse, of which many cover versions in different languages have been made throughout the years, has been arranged for flexible instrumentation by Peter Kleine Schaars. His arrangement has the same drive and energy as the original, and leaves room to feature Speedy's renowned catchphrase Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba!Duration: 2.15

Holst composed A Moorside Suite for Brass Band in 1928. It is in three movements, this March being preceded by a Scherzo and Nocturne. It is an extraordinary mature work for band from a master composer. There is very little fortissimo writing and there are no semiquavers at all. Instead, Holst has written clean melodic lines with each part being woven into a texture based on the modal lines of English folk music; but these represent its stylistic origin rather than using actual folk tunes as in Holst's earlier band writing. The March is stirring and flowing and is an ideal standalone piece to open or close any concert or festival programme. Duration: 4.15

This simple little romance was written in the style of a Catalan folk song. It is entirely original but was undoubtedly influenced by the arrangements of Catalan folk songs for guitar by Miguel Llobet (1878-1938). Typical of the style, the tune is in 6/8 with a gentle lilt and has just one rather refined outburst of passion before retreating back into its shell. Duration: 3.30
