Jon Henrik Mario Fjallgren became instantly well-known after his appearance in Sweden's Got Talent where he performed Daniels Joik written for his recently passed best friend. Fjallgren was born in Cali, Columbia in 1987 but adopted by a Swedish Sami family and lives now as a reindeer herder, singer and composer. He debuted on stage in 2003, 14 years old, and on record two years later. After the success with Got Talent, he has also participated twice in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest.Duration: 3.45

Talisman tells the story of the "Pierre du Serment", an event that took place in 1639 in the village of Fontenotte, on the border between France and Switzerland. Composed of three brothers and their parents, the Billod family lived peacefully on their farm despite the Thirty Years' War raging around them. When their father was captured by the Swedish mercenaries who plundered the farm, the three brothers vowed to save him, carving their pact in stone according to a Celtic and Viking tradition.Commissioned by the Orchestre d'Harmonie de Montlebon for its centenary, this work pays tribute to a local story that has become a legend. The conductor, Jean-Pierre Frigo, wanted this commission to mark the orchestra's presence within the region.Duration: 13.15

Sweden On Guard is part of Widkvist's earliest march production. It was composed around 1914 when he served in the engineering troops.It is worth noting that the march from the beginning was probably intended for a small sized brass band and was later rearranged for a full military band by the composer. When I searched in the Swedish War Archives many years ago, looking for more or less forgotten marches, this work, among others, appeared. I immediately became attached to the young Widkvist's catchy melodies and clear harmonic tonal language that express faith in the future and optimism.Sweden On Guard has never been published in print before, and the work of modernizing the setting without resorting to the elegance and resilience of the original has been a challenge.- Niclas BlixtDuration: 2.30

Wonderful Peace was written by Gustav Nordqvist and first published in 1921 by the publishing company Abraham Lundquist AB. Edvard Evers wrote the lyrics which describes Christmas as white and full of snow. It also depicts the rest of the Christmas blessing with wishes of light and peace for the holiday season. Summer is the second in a series of symphonic poems, inspired by the seasons and the folk music of Scandinavia. In Spring, the composer made use of two Swedish folk tunes, whereas Summer focuses on Finnish folk music. The work opens with an impression of the pastoral landscape of Ostrobothnia, an elongated area on the west coast of Finland. As in Spring, the music continues with a polka, based on the opening bars of Suomis Sang (Song of Finland). After a brief horn interlude, a saxophone quartet plays from behind the stage Ant han dansa med mej (Ant was dancing with me), while the orchestra starts up an ostinato bass line that marks the transition to the finale. A gradual build-up to the 'Sun Theme' from Spring results in a radiant conclusion, with a short quotation from the first Symphony of Jean Sibelius, Finland's musical icon.Duration: 11:30
