£110.40Pomp and Circumstance no. 2 - Edward Elgar
Sir Edward Elgar wrote his Pomp and Circumstance March no. 2 in 1901 and dedicated it to the composer Granville Bantock. Although this second march is less known than the first, it is not less beautiful. A loud call for attention by the brass section is followed by a nice staccato theme with the woodwinds, completed by different instruments in a construction leading to the trio. This trio in major key contains a simple melody written in thirds played respectively by the woodwinds and the brass. The work ends with a short but powerful coda.

£119.80Clouds - Eric Swiggers
This piece was commissioned by Kunstfactor in the Netherlands. This work has been written in a contemporary but accessible idiom. The composition describes three different clouds: 1. Cumulus. Cumulus clouds are a type of cloud with noticeable vertical development and clearly defined edges. They are often described as 'puffy' or 'cotton-like' in appearance. Cumulus clouds mostly forecasts nice, sunny weather. 2. Cirrocumulus. Cirrocumulus clouds are high-altitude clouds that usually occur at an altitude of 6 km to 10 km. Although the term cirrocumulus refers to each cloud, it is typically also used to refer to an entire patch of cirrocumulus. This kind of clouds mostly forecast rainy, stormy weather. 3. Cumulonimbus. Cumulonimbus is a type of cloud that is tall, dense, and involved in thunderstorms and other intense weather. It will be no surprise that thunder and lightning are clearly audible in this third part of 'Clouds'.

The heroic and powerful Fanfarria, Op.50 was commissioned and premiered by the Alicante Municipal Concert Band in 2012 to commemorate their first centennial. The main epic theme is introduced by the trumpets and developed through the appearance of the different band sections in counterpoint. Finally, a briljant coda that builds to a final apotheosis ends the composition, which was also written to celebrate the completion of fifty compositions in Perez Garridos opus collection.

Ave Musica is a musical impression about the fusion of two different bands. The charactaristics from the past; the chorals (Grosser Gott, wir loben dich) and the marching are the ingredients for the first part. The middle part is based on the medieval song Farewell, Dear Love van Robert Jones. The last part is merry and cheerfull and radiates positivism as a salute, an ave, to the new band.

Britannica is inspired by Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance marches. A playful, varied introduction leads to the majestic main theme, recalling the heyday of the British Empire. It is played initially by the woodwinds, and then repeated in full orchestration. The opening section returns but quickly the music takes a different turn and finally the main theme returns in full glory. A short lively finale closes this worthy composition.

This work as the title indicates, is composed of three different sections. After an introduction of great energy appears a quite melodious March that has within it an euphonium solo, itself also very melodic and exhilarating. Following a brief transition arises Romance, lyrical and exciting, finalized by a horn and euphonium solo in dialogue. Suddenly, without warning, arises the apotheosis of the Finale placing clear highlight on the metals. A work of simple structure with a magnificent sound result.

In six parts, an image of life in Zwartsluis is painted on the basis of architecture, nature and human activity throughout the centuries. The composition "Pictures of a Village" consists of two different versions: one with and one without the Percussion Group. When the work is performed without Percussion Group, the 3rd movement "Peat Cutters" is omitted and the doubling of the orchestral parts by the Percussion Group in the 6th movement "Olde Maten" is omitted.

Dr Jekyll researches the evil in man and succeeds in creating a potion that transforms him into his alter ego, Hyde. However, Jekyll loses control and fights an inner battle with Hyde. He loses this battle when Hyde commits murder. Understanding that there is only one way to resolve this, Jekyll kills himself and thus Hyde. In this solo concert the main characters Jekyll and Hyde are played by two solo trumpeters. The different sides of the trumpet are highlighted in this story: from the lyrical passages (Jekyll) to the sharp, mean and dark passages (Hyde).
