£104.50The New York Hippodrome - John Philip Sousa
Another classic Sousa march edited by the noted Sousa and march authority Frank Byrne, this work is presented with all of the class and integrity for which the Frank Byrne Editions are known. They are based on meticulous research by one of the leading experts in this field. The Sousa Band enjoyed its longest single engagement from September 30, 1915, to June 4, 1916, in an extravaganza presented in the New York Hippodrome. Sousa wrote this march in commemoration of that engagement.

Commissioned by a junior high band in Mesa, Arizona, the work is playable by bands with limited instrumentation and experience. A maestoso primo section is followed by a lyrical 3/4 movement featuring woodwinds. A return to the original theme is heard with an expanded tutti finale. An excellent choice for program or contest.

Arioso was written for and dedicated to the Hayden High School Concert Band, Topeka, Kansas. A slow, expressive, sustained work, it was written to help develop intonation, expressiveness, and phrasing, and for the limited instrumentation of that ensemble. (It has been rescored for a full instrumentation.) This piece can succeed with a limited instrumentation, and most certainly by bands without the instruments that were addeD. ( 4 minutes 30 seconds).

£71.50Quail Creek Overture - David Gorham
This selection was commissioned by the Central Oklahoma Band Directors Association for the CODA Ninth Grade Honor Band. After an energetic opening, a lyrical legato section is introduced by a woodwind choir and answered by a brass choir before returning to the original excitement of the opening section. A beautiful slower section in 3/4 time follows before the opening section returns, taking the piece to a strong, bold ending.
