"The Old Mill on the Brook" was awarded second price after the three-movement work "Sinfonietta de Soffiatori". After this competition, ""The Old Mill on the Brook" is the most performed of all pieces Tveitt wrote for band. It has a special fullness, portraying nature in rich colours, with grass, water, stone, forest and the darkness of traditional Norwegian timber. This new editon for modern instrumentation is written by Stig Nordhagen.

The music portrays a festival and procession that takes place in the Triana neighbourhood of Seville, and is filled with wonderful idiomatic Spanish musical elements.
