Fantasy on a Wild and Romantic Alpine LandscapeWho among us hasn't experienced the great power that lies in the tranquillity and beauty of the mountains: wide meadows, rugged cliffs, wild, romantic gorges, thundering waterfalls and idyllic mountain lakes? Mountain Lake emphasizes particular aspects of this landscape: the calm, the majesty and depth of the water and all the dreamlike secrets of a mountain lake. Gentle melodies and mysterious sounds lead us to a powerful, peaceful mountain lake that shimmers in splendour the morning light. Its water glitters and sparkles, and you can hear the movement of the waves on the wind. A majestic chorale rises up from the depths of the lake and brings up unexpectedly seductive secrets to bear. The solo passages in saxophone, flute and trumpet are like water creatures dancing in pulsating rhythms that transport us to an alpine dream world. As if from afar, like a hymn to the beauty of the lake the chorale melody returns again and again with driving energy before it leads us back to the endless peace of the mountains and dissipates into silence.Duration: 8:00

For someone like Franco Cesarini, who was born and raised in a land where every horizon is dominated by the majestic Alps, mountains are in one's heart and soul every moment of life. The true spirit of mountains is described in the words of Alan Hovhaness: "Mountains are symbolic meeting places between the material and the spiritual world." It is a sentiment with which the composer fully agrees, which also helps explain the titles of succeeding episodes of the composition. These episodes alternate moments of reality, of matter, and with those of the ethereal, the spirit. Mountain Majestic is the fascinating final movement from the epic work Poema Alpestre, published separately in this edition for concert band. Mountain March (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

A fanfare introduces This festive march is introduced by a lively fanfare which leads into the first, playful, melodic line which features a regular dynamic alternation and a light syncopated rhythm. After the traditional bass solo, the first theme returns. The initial theme, performed by piano and cantabile trio, later sounds in a jubilant forte with various figurations in the higher woodwinds. The fine work Mountain March is suitable as a street march, but will also gain much appreciation on the concert platform. 04:00

MOUNTAIN SONG (Prestige Concert Band Extra Score) - Sparke, Philip

Extra Score. Mountain Song is a description of a short mountain walk the composer took in the Austrian Ziller Valley. As he climbed even higher, the only sound was the rustle of branches and the gentle tolling of the church bell in the valley below. On reaching the peak, the full panorama of the Alps opened up.
