£75.00The Gift of Each Day (from The Gift of Life) (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
The Gift of Life was written early in 2015 as a commission to honour a retiring Minister of Music at a church in Dallas, Texas. In planning this piece, John Rutter has stated: In 1985 I had written a Requiem - which, like any Requiem, inevitably reflects on death - why not write the opposite, a work celebrating life? Unlike a Requiem, where a set form of words is laid down in Catholic liturgy, no framework exists for a celebration of life, and I had to choose (and in three cases, write) texts which were appropriate to a theme rarely expressed in music since Haydn's wondrous oratorio The Creation in 1798. The six movements reflect different facets of the miracles of creation and of life. This arrangement is written for combined Concert Band and Chorus, but may be performed by Concert Band alone.

£95.00The Gilded Theatre (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hesketh, Kenneth
The Gilded Theatre was commissioned by the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary. They gave the first performance on 10th August 2008, at St. John's Smith Square, London conducted by James Gourlay. The Gilded Theatre can, in some ways, be seen as a continuation of dramatic forms as presented in a previous piece by Hesketh, Diaghilev Dances. Unlike the Dances, however the music in The Gilded Theatre is conceived as one continuous span and stretches of music are also subtitled and refer to stock characters or scenarios redolent of the commedia dell'arte or 17th Century French Theatre. The subtitles are Rideau, Les Idiots Ou Les Amants, Le Combat Commence, Desespoir, L'apparition, Folie, La Mort, Rideau. The music narrative progresses through dramatic, comedic, romantic and aggressive moods supporting the idea of the abstract play to which the the above subtitles refer. Throughout the piece the composer has sought to challenge the players both technically and emotionally, and it is the players themselves who are in fact the protagonists in the piece.

£137.99The Gipsy Baron Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
The operetta The Gipsy Baron is, together with Die Fledermaus (The Bat), the most famous theatre work by Johann Strauss Jr. A libretto full of romance, original musical ideas, compelling Viennese dances, fiery rhythmic Hungarian music and beautiful arias, were just some of the ingredients that lead to its huge success. The Gipsy Baron can also be thought of as a comic opera. The main motif of this overture won first prize in a contest that was to provide a new Hungarian anthem, however because Strauss did not have Hungarian nationality, another melody was chosen. A great transcription to bring a Hungarian twist to any programme. 0:08:15
