Celebration On a Theme by Saint-Saens - James Curnow

Celebration was written for and dedicated to a promising young musician and leader whose life was needlessly taken by a drunk driver. To capture the spririt of this fine young person, Curnow uses excerpts from the Saint-Saens 'Organ Symphony' in three contrasting variations, An imaginative piece that is inspirational for both players and audiences alike.

Celebration Overture is a work meant to reflect a celebration of life and all of the wonderful and positive events we are fortunate enough to experience. The piece combines a majestic brass fanfare with musically expressive themes for a real celebration in sound. Effective scoring allows all sections to contribute important lyric material before returning to the allegro brillante tempo and another rousing fanfare to bring the work to a dramatic conclusion.

Celebration! - Adolphus Hailstork

"The years leading to the US Bicentennial (1976) saw a great flowering of artistic celebration, including the commissioning of American composers to write festive works for the occasion. The Nashville Symphony and its conductor Thor Johnson asked Adolphus Hailstork for such a work to premiere, and to distribute the music at no cost to high school orchestras around the United States. The present version for band followed as a natural offshoot of the infectiously exhilarating 3-minute work.
