Bandanna Overture - Daron Aric Hagen

Bandanna is the extraordinary opera commissioned by a consortium of 79 members of the College Band Directors National Association, and premiered at the CBDNA convention in Austin, TX on February 28, 1999. This overture is not a part of the opera, but an independent concert work created by the composer for concert performance. A brilliantly scored composition, that has already been adopted by the Texas UIL Prescribed Music List, Overture to "Bandanna" features many musical ideas from the opera including the wonderful melody that brings audiences to their feet. This idea also forms the climax of "Wedding Dances". Duration: 9'

Bandfare - Daniel Jones

Bandfare is an enthusiastic "fanfare" for emerging band. Designed for middle-school-age students, it provides more complex rhythms and harmonies. Various melodies are presented throughout the piece, and different instrument groupings are often playing different material at the same time, producing an advanced texture for younger musicians. A key change is provided as well as a texture change, presented in the middle of the work, followed by a recapitulation of previous themes.

Bandissima - Wim Laseroms

A festive introduction leads to the main part of this march, most notable for its exciting dynamic contrast and strings of ornate and technically interesting semiquaver passages. The trio creates a change of pace, introducing a beautiful, song-like melody which, over the course of several powerful interludes, undergoes a fascinating transformation that leads back to the march. Bandissima's technical prowess and well-defined structure make it an exciting contemporary concert march.

Banditenstreiche - Franz von Suppé

In his comic opera Banditenstreiche, Supp uses all the qualities that have made him so well-loved by a wide audience. The appealing music is brimming with unexpected ideas and written in a light and fluent style. There's much to enjoy with elegant arias and ensembles, pure Viennese waltzes and attractive ballet music. The arrangement of the overture contains many highlights from this opera and makes a superb light item for any concert.
