Mount Olympus - Filip Ceunen

Mount Olympus was commissioned by the Groot Genker Orkest from Genk (Belgium) on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. In the context of this composition, Mount Olympus, the home of the Greek gods, can be seen as a reference to the Zwarte Berg (Black Mountain) in Genk, that, with its rolling hills and lush nature, is also a place of inspiration and contemplation - which prompted the composer to write this attractive work, in which various facets of the mythological mountain Olympus are represented.

Mount Vernon Reverie - Larry MacTaggart

Composed by the talented arranger for the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., this work is a musical tribute to the serenity and all encompassing sense of peace that pervades the historic grounds of George Washingtons home, Mt. Vernon, recalling the panoramic view from the east side of the mansion. A fanfare section hails the arrival of General Washington, eventually giving way to a restatement of the lyric section and concluding with a serene sunset.

Inspired by the musical tradition of early American folk songs, Johnnie Vinson has composed this appealing suite of three contrasting dance styles. Mountain Dance - Ed Kiefer

Mountain Dance contains three Appalachian folk songs: "Cluck Old Hen," "Sourwood Mountain," and "Poor Polly." It was written to depict the Appalachian region of the country and its heritage of bluegrass music and fine musicianship. Hints offerish music can be heard, as many of the folk songs from this area were developed by the Irish immigrants who settled in this part of the country. These inluences are beautifully embedded in a truly symphonic setting by composer Ed Keifer.
