Al-Manzah, nowadays called Almansa, is a town of Muslim origin. Its name comes from the Arabic word al-mansah, meaning "the watchtower". On a rocky peak above the town stands an impressive castle from where it is possible to admire the Spanish Levant(the Mediterranean coast of the Valencian region) from the Meseta (a high plateau in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula).This is a delightful and festive piece which is both pleasant to listen to and exciting to play.

Almshouse Street Blues - Philip Sparke

In 2007, Philip Sparke received the exciting task of composing three new works for the historic Monmouth School, situated on the Welsh/English border, at which he was composer-in-residence. Almshouse Street Blues was conceived ina truly democratic way, with each member of the band choosing the kind of piece they wanted! Along the River - Hermann Pallhuber

Along the River was commissioned by the Wind Band Kundl in Austria to commemorate its 225th anniversary of making music and spreading joy! To add a personal touch to this composition, Hermann Pallhuber drew inspiration from the Kundler-Klamm canyon. The sights and sounds of nature particularly inspires him: the roar of the water winding its way through the canyon or the sun rising behind the mountain peaks.
