Gerald Sebesky brings us back to an era for style and form of the past, but with a modern sound. Not dissonant, but changing time meters, and counterpoint all within the Grade 4 performance level.First trumpet's highest note is B flat.

Passerine - Newfoundland Folk Song

Based on a Newfoundland folk song, Passerine refers to "the swallow" found in the lyric of this song of lost love. Carl Strommen gives us an exceptionally beautiful setting of this folk song that contains a transparent orchestration to begin the work, contrasted nicely with the later entrance of the full ensemble. Your ensemble will enjoy reflecting the romantic sentiment of Passerine broadly and with great expression.

Path of Destiny

Sean O'Loughlin's music is highly influenced by music for film, and this piece is meant to depict the action/battle music of the genre. Strong, powerful, and dramatic moments all permeate this piece from start to finish. It is a serious new piece for young bands.

This beautifully scored arrangement preserves a remarkable amount of the original flavor of this French romantic classic. It will provide the grade two band a terrific opportunity to learn careful tone production and focused intonation and to polish its skills in subtlety of phrasing and overall musicianship.
