The original composition is dedicated to the composer's daughter and named after her. The first trumpet's highest note is F.1st and 2nd clarinets cross the break.The arrangement is easy and may be taken slightly slower if needed.

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope captures the wonder of childhood curiosity through simple harmonies and vibrant rhythms, inspired by the shifting patterns and colors seen through a kaleidoscope. The piece encourages creativity and explores the joyful, imaginative spirit of youth, inviting students to focus on rhythm, shape, and color rather than harmonic complexity.

Kaleidoscope Sky

Inspired by hot air ballooning, this concert or contest composition starts with a celebratory feel with soaring melodic material and progresses to a suspenseful, yet graceful, completion. Multiple dynamic, phrasing and articulation demands in all sections combined with meter changes will challenge your players while rewarding your audiences.

Kinetic Energy

Kinetic energy is defined as the energy of constant motion. Larry Clark represents this idea with a near constant 8th-note pulse throughout his supercharged piece. Though the piece ends in B flat major, the main idea is in the Lydian mode on E flat. Kinetic Energy is Clark at his most incisive and the scoring is apt and colorful.

Kingsridge

Kingsridge is a dynamic concert work crafted to reinforce the fundamental elements of rhythm and phrasing. Opening with a bold, fanfare-like statement, the piece immediately captures attention before giving way to contrasting lyrical passages. A legato middle section highlights melodic interplay, while carefully structured fugato writing adds depth and clarity to ensemble playing. Kith and Kin

As the title suggests, Kith and Kin will inspire reflection and fond feelings for loved ones. Opening with a warmly lush introduction, the piece features a beautiful, tuneful melody that will take your audience's breath away. Introducing some advanced compositional techniques, the piece is also a perfect vehicle to move students into more sophisticated literature.

Kivgik

Meaning "messenger" in Inuit, Carl Strommen's piece Kivgik was inspired by the composer's observance of a large gathering of the Inuit people in Alaska. Carl has tried to emulate the sound of their drums being used for communication. The piece also contains bold harmonic colors and driving 6/8 rhythms. There is a nice repose section in the middle of the piece that symbolizes the more solemn parts of this annual gathering or Kivgik. This multicultural piece offers many unique, cross-curriculum teaching opportunities and will be perfect at your next contest or festival performance.

Knights Of Chivalry - Randy Navarre

One can easily imagine in the days of Castes and Kings, how this composition may spark the feeling of what it may have been like for Knights of the Kingdoms to not only protect the Lords of the Castle, but also be chivalrous to the Ladies of the Court. Dancing at the feasts and festivals, escorting the royalty to various events. Knights had much more to do than fight. They were allowed to have fun. Sometimes. Like all of our Grade compositions, its main purpose besides giving good and interesting music for young musicians to play, is that it is an opportunity for the band director to teach some aspect of music. This is a great composition for introducing eighth notes and following dynamics. No clarinet crosses the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is A (in the staff). Everyone plays rhythmically together. Only the drum part may vary. All chords of the diatonic scale are used to make the harmony more interesting with no accidentals.
