This piece starts out at a good joyful tempo in 4/4 time with a contrasting middle section in 3/4. The syncopation in the opening and end makes for a very exciting feel. The middle section has more of an easy, flowing melody. Clarinets cross the break. 1st trumpet's highest note is G.

Gifted Leadership (March) - Henry Fillmore

Gifted Leadership is a most interesting march with some unique scoring that sets it apart from many more ordinary marches. The woodwind parts are especially intriguing, with much more variety and independence than is frequently found in a traditional march. Fillmore wrote this march to honor the leadership of famed band leader and cornet soloist Frank Simon. It is authentically presented here as Fillmore intended, carefully edited by Robert E. Foster.

Gilgamesh - Gregory Rudgers

A passionate new lyrical piece based on themes from Verdi's opera La Forza del Destino. Composer Gregory Rudgers morphs these themes and makes them his own in a welcome addition to the band repertoire for more advanced groups. It will stretch the musiciality of all groups that wisely choose to program this substantial work.

Give Us This Day

A short, two-movement symphony by the masterful David Maslanka, that demonstrates once again the rich possibilities of the wind band in the hands of a composer who understands the creative potential of the medium. The slow and richly scored opening movement makes especially fine use of an expanded percussion section, triadic harmony and melodies with the flavor of an incantation. The second movement is a driving Allegro with a stern, striding C minor theme that dominates the movement until the coda, which ends the piece with a slow, heaven-storming chorale. Despite the title (from The Lord's Prayer), the composer claims a Buddhist inspiration for his piece.
