Adventure in India

Adventure in India was written to evoke the musical styles heard in "Bollywood" movie soundtracks. This style of music has strong Indian influence, but a variety of other world music is incorporated into the piece. This makes the piece fresh and different from the other beginning band pieces. With expanded percussion it truly does evoke the feel of India.

Adversary

Now, this is what composer Larry Clark does best! He gives developing bands daring compositions that they just absolutely love to play. In Adversary, an epic minor piece, he explores the villainous character that appears in most great stories. The added dimension of 3/4 time give this piece an intriguing rhythmic feel. It is full-sounding, but never taxing to the abilities of the developing band. A surefire winner!

Aeolus

Aeolusis the Greek mythological god of the winds. The title of this piece was chosen, in part, because of the Aeolian quality of the music. Although not strictly harmonizedin the Aeolian mode, the themes themselves are purely Aeolian. The compositional form bookends a broad and dramatic middle section with two sections in regal march style.Aeolus is sure to be a great teaching tool for young bands!

Aerius

The title of Carl Strommen's piece for concert band, Aerius, is a Latin term meaning "soaring" or "rising aloft". The piece begins with and develops a lush brass chorale before leading to an energetic presto section. Ultimately, the composition comes full circle and finishes with a majestic return of the chorale material. Aerius will prove a welcome addition to your repertoire.
