Beyond!

Beyond was written to celebrate America's exploration of space, culminating with the historic moon landing of Apollo 11 in July, 1969. The music moves through the exciting events: a sunrise awakening, the victorious emotion of the successful landing, the spreading news, trepidation at the challenges returning to earth, and the ultimate relief and joy at the safe splashdown of the NASA astronauts. Intended to ignite the imagination, this piece encourages players to tell a story with their instrument and wonder what else may lie ahead in the future, Beyond?

Bicycle Race

Take your band on a musical bicycle ride with this piece for developing musicians. It has a catchy tune that students will want to play over and over again. It can be used as a great teaching piece for working on steady, even eighth note patterns and uniformity of articulation style. The bicycle bell and horn will add to the fun of this piece!

Big Sky March

Premiered at the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, this march describes the beautiful mountain views that gave Asheville it's nickname, Land Of Big Sky. Written in the traditional style of Fillmore marches, the piece features exciting parts for all instruments. Flurries of woodwinds and brass flourishes depict the pageantry of the area and repeated arpeggios and chromatic scales represent each of the two ensembles who performed the piece as part of a Memorial Day celebration.

Black Light

Black lightis defined as infrared or ultraviolet light which is invisible to the naked eye. The idea of an entire spectra existing out of the range of human perception was a large influencing factor for George Sweet in the composition of this piece.Richly scored for the modern concert band,Black Light is written in a post-minimalist style and is also heavily influenced by the work of American composers Steve Reich, John Adams, and Philip Glass.

Blast from the Past

Get your students swinging with this delightful original swing tune from composer Joseph Compello. This piece is reminiscent of the big band era and the melodies and harmonies evoke the feeling of all the great big bands of the '30s and '40s. Students love to play swing music and this is a great opportunity for young musicians to get into the style.

Blue Bells Of Scotland - Arthur Pryor

This folk song has been arranged in a theme and variations format for a variety of solo instruments. Here it has been arranged for trumpet or trombone/euphonium with band accpmpaniment. The solo part is very reasonable and sounds harder than it is (about a Grade 3.5). This is great piece for showing off that talented soloist in your ensemble.

Blue Horizons

More than a mere arrangement of the original material, Blue Horizons is a woven tapestry of the Air Force's musical heritage. The main theme is a variation of the U.S. Air Force Song (Off We Go), with a secondary theme based on A Toast to the Host (the bridge of The Air Force Song). Throughout the work, fragments of other Air Force-related songs appear: Lord, Guard and Guide (the Air Force Hymn), Air Force Blue, and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. Tuneful and jaunty this piece is suitable for patriotic programming, concerts, and festivals.
