For this spirited concert march, the creative and lively mind of the great Italian mathematician, physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei, who lived from 1564 to 1642, served as a source of inspiration. Galileo was the founder of experimental thinking in physics, and he made numerous discoveries and formulated many useful theories in this field. His reluctance to unquestioningly accept established authorities and ideas was also typical of his inventive mind. Moreover, Galileo was more accessible to the common people. He tried to encourage them to think for themselves, and he published his research results in the form of dialogues that were easy to understand. This accessibleconcert march - a suitable homage to Galileo - builds a bridge between the musician and the listener.

Maintaining the delicate balance between their trinity - nature, man, and creation - is an important factor for bliss and happiness.Primeval Sound and Dreamtime The tens of thousands-year-old stories from the era calledDreamtime - the Aborigines' creation myth - play an important role in not only their beliefs, but their everyday lives and laws as well. Ancestral worship and various other rituals and ceremonies are still held in high regard to this veryday.Running HunterThe Aborigines are extremely skilful hunters and are able to run for extended periods of time when chasing their prey. Hunting weapons, such as the boomerang, exemplify their abilities.Uluru (Red Rock)Uluru, also knownas Ayers Rock, is a natural sandstone "inselberg" rising 348m above Australia's plains, and is one of the country's most recognisable icons. Uluru is also a sacred place for the local Aborigines. Its history stretches back to Dreamtime, although itdid not exist in its current state at that time.Encounter with the White MenUnfortunately, the "White Men" did not realize the significance and importance of the Aborigines and their culture until the end of the 20th century. Before then, theywere unaware that the Aborigines were quite possibly one of the oldest known cultures on earth, with a seamless history stretching back to creation itself; Dreamtime. BushfireFire has been present on the Australian continent for millions ofyears. Many of the indigenous flora and fauna have needed to adapt to fire, and evolution has led to unique solutions for survival. £144.99Andante & Rondo - Antonio Capuzzi
Antonio Capuzzi (August 1, 1755 - March 28, 1818) was an Italian violinist and composer who studied violin with Nazari and composition with Bertoni. In 1805 he moved to Bergamo, where he was professor of violin at the Instituto Musicale and leader of the orchestra at Teatro Riccardi. He was highly regarded there both as a teacher and a performer. Although popular in his day, most of his music is now forgotten; his most commonly performed piece today is the Concerto for Double Bass. All of Capuzzi's known compositions were written during his Venetian years. It was in Venice that Capuzzi became close friends with Domenico Dragonetti, Beethoven's virtuoso bassist. It isspeculated that Capuzzi wrote his Concerto for Double Bass for Dragonetti. Gerald Oswald has made a fine arrangement of the second (Andante) and third (Rondo) movements of the concerto to feature either euphonium or tuba with concert band. The solo part is also available in an edition with piano accompaniment.

This march commemorates a daring sea rescue during World War II in which over 300,000 French and British soldiers, surrounded by German forces, were evacuated from Dunkirk by a huge volunteer flotilla consisting of every imaginable type of boat-from tiny fishing boats to yachts. This work presents a unique opportunity for musical learning, as well as cross-curricular study in social studies/history.

Beethoven's York'scher Marsch is one of a collection of three tattoos (WoO 18-20) and has had a chequered history, to say the least. There are several autograph copies for different instrumentations, dedicated to different archdukes who were commanders of various regiments of the army including the Prussian regiment called Marsch des Yorkschen Corps, which is how its current title arose. Philip Sparke's arrangement enables a march by this major classical composer to be enjoyed by concert bands.

£87.99David of the White Rock - Traditional
This is an ancient Welsh air that was first published in Relics of the Welsh Bards in 1794. Dafydd (David) Owain was a famous Welsh bard who lived on a farm called Gareg Wen (The White Rock) in Eifionydd, Carnarnvonshire, North Wales. Tradition has it that on his deathbed he called for his Harp and composed this lovely melody, requesting that it be played at his funeral. Accordingly, it was later played at the parish church of Ynys-Cynhaiarn. Lyrics were later added by Ceiriog Hughes, which describe the melody's inspiration. This version for Concert Band retains all the beauty and simplicity of the original.

£69.99Soft-shoe Shuffle - Philip Sparke
Dating from the first decades of the 20th century and originating in vaudeville and the music hall, the soft-shoe shuffle was danced by tap dancers, wearing soft-shoes instead of their normal tap shoes. In this usually comic dance, the shoes were rubbed on the surface of the stage producing a characteristic 'swish'. Soft-shoe Shuffle can be made into a percussion feature by bringing the sandpaper blocks to the front of the stage - with added choreography, if required! A wonderful piece of musical humour for your concerts.

Composers such as Cecil Sharp and Vaughan Williams rekindled an interest in this heritage at the beginning of the 20th century by arranging numerous songs, some of which were transcribed for the _x005F_x001F_first time. Philip Sparke selected three songs from the 18th and 19 century for his Three Folk Song Miniatures: the _x005F_x001F_sherman's song Dance to Your Daddy, the love song O Waly, Waly and Bobby Shafto, a song from the northwest of England.
