In spite of displaying remarkable musical gifts Chabrier (1841-1894) was sent by his father to study law and in due course, having taken a law degree, went to work in his native French Ministry of the Interior, stay there for eighteen years. During the whole of this time he was developing his real interests in music and painting, including composing operettas and music for the piano. Following a holiday in Spain in 1883, Chabrier wrote a rhapsody for orchestra based on Spanish tunes he had heard. This became Espana; it achieved immediate acclaim and is still his most performed work. Joyeuse Marche (originally called Marche Francaise) was written in 1888. It exudes Chabrier's rhythmical exuberance, spontaneity and wit, bringing pleasure and joy to performers and listeners alike. Truly a march which lives up to its title.

Firstly, the slip jig, The Rocky Road to Dublin features the woodwind section. So Nata Per Te Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
So Nata Per Te -- or Naci para ti in Spanish -- translates as "I was born for you". This symphonic suite is inspired by Pepe Domingo, a great music enthusiast and lover of life who wanted to commemorate his long and happy marriage to his dear wife, Concha. He commissioned Ferrar Ferran to set to music the great bond of their partnership: the couple will be able to close their eyes and relive through the music their most precious memories one by one.So Nata Per Te is a suite of many contrasts. Its contemporary, modern flavours are entertaining while the colourful variations are exciting and fascinating. Audience members may recall happy memories in their own lives listening to the delightful, famous tunes that appear throughout the work and, although somewhat different from the originals, they are easily recognisable.Ferrer Ferran dedicated this work to Pepe Domingo and his wife Concha not only for their great enthusiasm and passion for music, but also for their mutual love. So Nata Per Te was premiered on 27 February 2010 at the Auditorio Florida of Paiporta (Spain) by the Banda Primitiva de Paiporta, conducted by the composer. 24:45

Program NotesBased on the song melodies "Give Me Joy in My Heart, Keep Me Praising" and "Praise, My Soul the King of Heaven," the music is largely light-hearted in nature with some florid semi-quaver work overlaying the melodic lines and some interesting interplay between the two selected tunes. We believe that it will have wide appeal both to players and listeners.Andrew Mackareth originally wrote this piece for The Salvation Army's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, but it was first published in a rescored version for brass band. Program NotesOnce a year, my wife and I like to visit the beautiful Lake District in the northwestern sector of England in the county of Cumbria. It has been a place of much inspiration for many composers over the years and when amidst the rolling countryside, the lofty mountain peaks, it is no wonder. Lakeside Drawings was started when I visited the Lakes and seeks to reflect the contours of the many mountain peaks through the sometimes soaring melodic lines of the composition. It is a piece based on tunes reflecting the aspect and also of the mindset of the many walkers who have scaled the mountains to achieve an ambition of reaching a summit. The TV Detectives - Nigel Hess
The TV Detectives brings together five of Nigel Hess's best-known television themes (Dangerfield, Campion, Wycliffe, Maigret and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates), all originally written for small-screen sleuths in whodunits that have been enjoyed by TV audiences worldwide.Dangerfield is a BBC series about a Warwickshire police surgeon, and originally starred Nigel le Vaillant, before Nigel Havers took over the lead role. Campion, also from the BBC, was based on Margery Allingham's stories of a mild-mannered 1920s gentleman detective, played by Peter Davison. Wycliffe was a long-running HTV series set in Cornwall and starred Jack Shepherd as a somewhat dour and low-key DCI - but, of course, he always solved the case! Michael Gambon starred in Granada TV's latest incarnation of the famous French detective Maigret, while Patricia Routledge played the OAP sleuth to perfection in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, another popular BBC series. For the first time these popular tunes, which conjure up their programmes perfectly, have been arranged for wind band in a continuous suite.
