Fortress - Concert March - Geir Sundbø
This concert march describes a town in the middle ages which is attacked by enemies. The citizens, helped by the fortress` soldiers suffer losses, but manage to win the battle.The march starts off with a fanfare, after which the main theme ispresented by the clarinets. This theme arrives in different variations separated by new fanfares, until the victory is celebrated and the main theme changes from minor to major mode.

£149.40Minnen frn Holmen - Jerker Johansson
The first theme played by the solo clarinet was written by Jerker Johansson the summer 1997, when he was composing in Swedish folk music style for an intended radio programme in which his father should participate reading poems in local dialect. Unfortunately, the project was discontinued. In the spring 2015 Mr. Johansson however started to work on the theme again, this time adding a song theme of broader character. Holmen is the name of the homestead where Mr. Johansson's father Arne grew up. It is beautifully located in the parish of Skrv, situated east of Skara, one of the oldest towns in Sweden. At Holmen, the composer spent his childhood summers and his recollections are filledwith many bright moments and happy memories. The piece was premiered May 22, 2015 by the Gteborg Wind Orchestra conducted by the composer.

£75.00Sonata - Derek Bourgeois
This work, composed in 1998, was commissioned by the American trombonist Don Lucas as a work for trombone and piano and first performed by him in Birmingham on 19th May 2000. Subsequently, I arranged the music for both solo trombone and brass band and solo trombone and wind band so that it now exists in three formats. The first movement, in B flat major, is brisk and energetic, and is cast in sonata form. The second subject is gentler and more lyrical. The second movement, a scherzo in C major, is the most complex of the four. Basically the structure is a rond. For a long time the music remains in the opening 5/8 time until a new theme introduces more broken rhythms in a more jazzy idiom. After a return of the opening theme the following episode is more tonally ambiguous. Finally, the main theme returns to round off the movement. The third movement, a lyrical adagio, is really one long extended melodic flow. The harmonies are lush and the textures simple and direct. The tonal center is A minor, but the music meanders through so many keys, that this key centre is heavily disguised. The finale is a fiery affair. G minor is really its home key, but throughout the movement the music moves about a lot and the second subject is first heard in A flat minor. The movement's underlying sonata structure is masked not only by its loose tonality but also by its frequently changing time signatures. Like the first movement the second subject is more lyrical in nature and for a while it seems that the music will end peacefully, but a final flurry heralds a triple forte unison on the home note of the first movement - B flat. Following a fast introduction by the accompanying band, the flute section follows in three-parts with a rapidly syncopated/staccato theme. After a short interlude by the band, this opening theme appears once again. The second flute theme returns following a short passage in which the band and the soloists alternate and the piece comes to a entertaining conclusion. Let your flute section shine with this playful new work.

Madurodam is a small scale miniature town at Scheveningen (near The Hague) and is since many years one of the most important tourist attractions of the conurbation of Western Holland (called "Randstad"). On a scale 1:25 a charming picture of The Netherlands is given in bird's eye view: several important buildings, churches and townscapes are reconstructed up to the smallest details. There is also a fine transport system: a network of railroads, harbours and motorways covers the park and Madurodam Airport enables air traffic with all continents. The miniature suite Madurodam consists of eight short parts presenting a musical impression of the smallest town in The Netherlands. IReveille the piccolo flute and the side drum announce a new day; II Toy Soldiers there is a military parade in front of the George Maduro Barracks; III Binnenhof/Buitenhof a solemn melody is the main theme of the suite and depicts the state buildings and the nearby lake "Hofvijver" at The Hague; IV Small Windmills everything that moves or whirls at Madurodam is described in this barrel organ waltz; V Intermezzo/Nocturne Madurodam by night is described by a solemn passage played in unison by the lower instruments; VI The Westerkerk Church also the capital Amsterdam is represented with the chimes of the famous Westerkerk church; VII The Muiderslot Castle an elegant pavane recalls medieval atmospheres; VIII "Grande" Finale the windmill theme comes back and then the suite comes to an end with the "Binnenhof" theme, decorated by the first strains of the national hymn "Wilhelmus".

£164.99Wilten Festival Overture - Philip Sparke
To celebrate the 350th anniversary of the Stadtmusikkapelle Wilten in Innsbruck Philip Sparke composed Wilten Festival Overture. A bold fanfare, led by the horns, forms the opening of the work from which an expressive theme unfolds until the full band reaches a climax. Short solo statements from saxophone, horn and trumpet lead to a recapitulation of this theme which melts into a rhythmic Vivo. A robust melody is is then played by the clarinets and taken up by the whole band before a legato figure leads to a cantabile theme, again presented by the clarinets. The original Vivo melody reappears before the opening fanfare is briefly heard and the work comes to an end with ashort Coda. A great experience for the whole band!

Philip Sparke selected two well-known marches from the region around Southern Belgium and Luxembourg as the basis for his March Celebration: after we hear an original march theme and second theme in the bass, extracts from the Hmmelsmarsh (Hammelmarsch) and the spirited Marsch der Ardennen-Jger, which has become a kind of unofficial national anthem in these parts. This festive march is rounded off with another appearance of Philip Sparke's original theme.

Marching Winds was commissioned as the set piece for the Youth Festival Singapore 2010, a competition for all the youth orchestras in Singapore. As the title indicates, it is written in the form of a march. The opening fanfare leads directly to the modal main theme. It is contrasted by a second, legato theme, which builds to the climax of the piece. The main theme makes an appearance again before the piece comes to a finish.

Named after the leaf displayed on Canada's flag, Maple Leaf Overture was composed specifically to open a Canadian school's symphonic band tour of England. A short fanfare during the overture smoothly transitions to a jazzy, syncopated section. The main theme is first played by the horns and saxophones, and then by the entire ensemble. This lively theme then alternates with a slower second theme, building momentum before a brisk coda culminates in a rousing finale!
