Hypernikon (More Than Conquerors) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

The Greek word hypernikon roughly translates as More Than Conquerors, the motto of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, the commissioner of this piece. The work is inspired by David Rox's very own name, the first two letters of his name, D and A, sets the first theme is in D major, with these notes being the tonic and dominant of the scale. After the stately intrada, the tempo accelerates and the festive feel of the march emerges. The trio melody serves as a beautiful contrast before finally ending with the opening theme in a grand tutti.Duration: 3.45

Trans-America March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.

Trans-America March, composed in classic style, is inspired by the westward development of the United States of America. Beginning with a quote from the opening phrase of The Star Spangled Banner, we are taken on a journey westward across the great divide. The first strain ascends melodically to the peak in center of the phrase. The melody then descends to the other side of the great divide representing the journey across the country from sea to shining sea. The trio is based on "America, My Country Tis Of Thee," leading to a rousing conclusion. Perfect for patriotic programming or in any concert/festival setting, "Trans-America March" is a wonderful choice for your next performance. Duration: 2.00

Regiment of Heroes was written for and dedicated to "The Presidents Own" United States Marine Band. The opening section returns, this time bringing the piece full circle back to the trio section, only now in a more majestic style. The piece concludes with a quickly paced coda utilizing fragments from the opening statement. A terrific addition to the wind band repertoire. Duration: 4:40

Montreal Citadel (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Audoire, Norman - Horner, Kevin

Montreal Citadel, composed in 1934 has proved to be a very popular addition to the repertoire since that time. The march is constructed in a traditional format and contains a 'full blooded' opening that was reflective of the extremely large band that the composer was conducting at the time of composition. The lilting melody line on the trio section is sure to get those toes-tapping.

March Chromatica (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Mark

Destined to become a standard of the school band repertoire, the melodies of this classic old-time 6/8 march are based on the chromatic scale. In fact, the melodies and countermelodies in the "trio" section are pure chromatic scales (moving in opposite directions), and the superb harmonization makes it sound fantastic. You have to hear it to believe it! Duration: 2.15

Medal of Valor (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve

This dynamic march begins with a strong motif by the trumpets, accented by the woodwinds and low brass. The aggressive minor melody is passed from section to section and is supported by an active rhythmic accompaniment. The trio section provides a smooth, effective contrast before the piece transitions into an exciting 'dogfight' treatment of the opening trumpet motif. A modulation into the final presentation of the melody brings the march to a dramatic conclusion.Duration: 3.15
