VIEW SCORE PDF This rousing and pulsating work by Kevin Norbury forms part of the suite A Renaissance Christmas, also published by BrookWright Music. It is based on three popular carols - In Dulci Jubilo, Good Christian men, rejoice! and Ding-dong merrily on high. This magnificent 13th-century melody was also a part of Michael Praetorius's collection. It is traditionally associated with the words 'Good Christian men, rejoice!' The opening is a straight transcription of the great chorale prelude for organ by J.S.Bach. After the grandeur of the opening, the tune is heard in more of a 'folky' style. A lot of related melodic material is then presented before the tune Ding-dong merrily on high is heard. After another episode of previously used music In Dulci Jubilo reappears in a joyful conclusion to the piece. This delightful work was composed in April 2023 by Andrew Wainwright as a tribute to Catherine Ramsdale, who was a member of the composer's church in Lewisville, Texas, and who passed away at the age of 88. The music is supposed to be evocative of Catherine's loving and caring spirit. Starting out in rather melancholy mood to reflect the sadness that Catherine is no longer with us in an earthly sense, the music moves into a more sprightly section which reflects her cheerful and positive personality. Diamond Reflections was composed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The work progresses from a somber, militaristic intro to a jovial symphonic ending, exploring various ensemble colors along the way. The U.S. Air Force Song is suggested throughout the work and the Air Force Hymn, Lord, Guard & Guide, makes an appearance as a trumpet solo and horn soli. This grand and well-scored piece is great for all of your patriotic programming needs.

This large full score (11" x 17") is available for this entry in our Wind Band Select series at normal discount. Sasha Takes a Train, commissioned by the USAF Band of Mid-America, was inspired by a memorable overnight train ride in Eastern Europe taken by the composer's family. The music is intended to evoke the motion and sounds of the train and the noisy, scary, surprising and joyous character of the journey. Sasha refers to the composer's then 13 month old son Alexander who managed to sleep through much of his first train adventure.

This four movement piece was composed around three recognized chorale melodies: Durch Adams Fall ("Through Adam's Fall") in the first movement; O Lamn Gottes, unschuldig ("O Lamb of God, without Blame") in the second movement; and Christ lag in Tdesbanden ("Christ Lay in the Bonds of Death") in the third and fourth movements. Although Maslanka's works usually portray feelings of loss and grief, Symphony No. 5 is filled with a bright and hopeful energy. The music continually speaks to the theme of transformation - the transformation of tears into power, and the victory of life over death.

A Norwegian Heavy Rock classic from the band TNT. Published for the first time in 1984 as a part of their record album "Knights of the New Thunder"TNT collaborated with the Royal Norwegian Navy Band in 2007. The occasion was TNT's 25th Anniversary, held at Sentrum Scene in Oslo. This arrangement was written for that concert.The arrangement is scored for Vocal Soloist with Concert Band, but it's also possible to perform instrumental without soloist.

American Prelude was commissioned by the United States Marine Band "The President's Own" and was composed in honor of the retirement of Colonel Jason K. Fettig, the 28th Director of the USMB. This short and energetic work features subtle hints to two of my favorite American composers, Aaron Copland and John Williams. The performance at Colonel Fettig's final concert with the Marine Band was the world premiere, given at the annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois on December 20st, 2023.

In this newly revised arrangement from 1986, arranger Johan de Meij has used themes from Star Wars - A New Hope en The Empire Strikes Back.

'Proven' was composed by Kevin Houben on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Wind Band 'De Volksvreugd'meaning ' People's Joy' in 2021.As its name suggests the musical band of the West Flemish village , municipality of Poperinge (B), had to bring joy againto the people. At that time there was still a striking industry of woodworkers, including that of slat splitters and hoop cutters.Moreover the cultivation of hops, necessary for the brewing of beer, remained important. Shortly after World War I theassociation was founded in the cellars of the brewer- mayor.Soon the joy was not only experienced by its listeners but also by its members. Already from its foundation onwards, thecandidate musicians flocked in and still nowadays 'De Volksvreugd' can take pride in having more than 100 members in itsyouth orchestra, having a drum band, an ambiance band and a wind band. Participation in tattoo and competitions ensuresan excellent musical level. Moreover musicians of all ages feel like family. For the previous 100 years 'De Volksvreugd' has'proven' to bring joy to the people and by the people. The chant 'Long live the Volksvreugd/ People's Joy' clearly provesits popularity.This energetic and festive composition has a very recognizable and powerful introduction, after which each musician ischallenged concerning technique, rhythm and ensemble playing. Also the magnificent melodic part, which Houben iswell-known for, is very melodious and intimate followed by a lyrical highlight to culminate into an energetic and rhythmicalfinal. Ideal for any concert!
