Everything Beautiful (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hazo, Samuel R.

Premiered by Maestro Eugene Migliaro Corporon conducting the National Honor Band of America, this spectacular memorial for renowned band director Charles Campbell will surround your students and audiences in layers of emotion. Expressive moments upon moments allow the ensemble to follow their musical instincts, gaining an aesthetic reward each time. Appalachian Folk Carol (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Watson, Scott

The Appalachian folk carol, "Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head," was collected by folk musicologist (and the composer of the tune, "I Wonder as I Wander"), John Jacob Niles, in the early Twentieth Century. This hauntingly beautiful arrangement of the tune explores the Nativity with peaceful reverence and mysterious wonder. Watson's writing includes expressive tempo changes, lush scoring for full band, transparent episodes for woodwinds, and delicate percussion writing, offering bands ample opportunity for performing with musical beauty and eloquence.Duration: 4.30

Czardas (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hart, Paul

Some time ago Charles Hine, a dear friend, asked me 'Isn't it about time you wrote a Czardas?' It wasn't such a silly idea. I'd studied violin as a child and having learnt numerous show pieces in that style I felt quite at home with the genre. Later in my youth I was lucky enough to work occasionally as accompanist to a lovely lady & singer Eve Boswell, who was partly Hungarian, and was generous enough to give me further insight into the nature of Czardas. Whilst the Wind Ensemble is not the instrumentation one might expect for such a piece the form is albeit rather more long-winded than some of the fiddle 'lollypops'.' - Hart, Paul.

Roman Times (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fraser, Bruce

During a visit to the town of Saintes in South West France in the summer of 2003, I spent some time in the Roman amphitheatre there. It is a well preserved arena and I imagined what it must have been like to take part in the gladiatorial games. 'Roman times' is based on these images with the opening grand procession and its amazing mixture of Mediterranean peoples. The middle movement is an old fashioned love ballad followed by gladiators fighting in a very spirited battle to death or victory.

www.winds.com (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fraser, Bruce

The idea for this work came from listening to my modem while logging on to the Internet. I realize that some modems log on silently, but the opening of this work imitates the tones and burbling noises of a modem or fax. There were two musical features I picked our - the pitches of the dialing tones are subsequently used to create the melodies, and the syncopated falling octave figure is used in accompaniment figures. The opening Allegro will work at a faster tempo if desired, but make sure that clarity is maintained. The middle section should be carefully balanced and allowed to flow.
