North-South College All Stars - Henry Fillmore

Rifle Regiment - John Philip Sousa
When you hear the names John Phillip Sousa and Andrew Balent, you know they have to do with something great! Balent takes one of Sousa's most popular marches and works it down to keep some of the technical demands in check for most younger bands. Soaring - Sean O'Loughlin
Soaring is an exciting composition for solo trumpet and concert band. The music is celebratory in nature and features the dynamic and rhythmic range of the trumpet. The piece opens with an American rhythmic gesture reminiscent of Aaron Copland and John Williams. The trumpet answers this gesture with a bold cadenza that will transform into the main melody a little later on in the piece. If you have a good trumpet player, this would be a great choice to feature them or it can be used with a feature soloist from elsewhere. Just gorgeous.

Robert Thurston's enormously attractive writing for band and his sure command of contemporary harmonic and rhythmic devices give this three movement composition by terrific band and audience appeal. Composed to embody the sense of American vigor and patriotism, this fast-paced and energetic fanfare, concert opener or contest selection features rousing brass fanfares, lively woodwind motives, and driving percussion. Using a simple motive that alternates between duple and triplet rhythms, this is a great selection to use for teaching the difference between the two.
