Fanfare for the Champions was commissioned by the municipal concert band of Landeck under the direction of Helmut Schmid on the occasion of the 375th anniversary of the band. The orchestra, which premiered Nostradamus (a key work of the composer), and which also commissioned Mantua - Freedom of the Eagle, has forged a friendship with the composer over a period of many years. This orchestra has participated in the major European competitions and has always performed with distinction--thus the title of the work Fanfare for the Champions.The fanfare, which is written in a style typical for the composer, should convey a feeling of happiness: the feeling to have created or accomplished something special. Fanfare for the Sun Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
Obviously, the music of John Williams is beyond comparison, but subconsciously one's thoughts do drift into that direction. Fanfare for the Sun is a radiant fanfare from the pen of Carl Wittrock. Nearly three minutes utmost concentration are required of your musicians to have them display stunning feats of technical brilliance. A moment of calm in this masterly composition is the vivacious and entertaining dialogue of clarinet, bassoon, oboe, and flute in the middle-section. The work was written as a commission by the Melomaan Foundation on the occasion of its anniversary. Fanfare for the Sun is een stralende fanfare van de hand van Carl Wittrock, die zijn voorliefde voor de filmmuziek niet onder stoelen of banken steekt. Rustpunt in deze korte doch magistrale compositie is de levendige en onderhoudende dialoog tussen klarinet, fagot, hobo en fluit in het middendeel. Fire in the Blood (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Lovatt-Cooper, Paul
Fire in the Blood was commissioned by Dr Stephen Cobb for the 120th anniversary of the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army. The piece was composed for the celebration concert where the ISB were joined by several other staff bands from around the world to perform independently to a sell-out capacity crowd at Britain's most famous concert hall The Royal Albert Hall. Fire in the Blood received its world premier at the 'ISB 120' concert at the Royal Albert Hall on June 4th 2011.With this piece I wanted to acknowledge music that had an impact on me through my Salvation Army upbringing. When thinking of a title for this piece I had no hesitation than to reflect and re-word the Salvation Army's motto under their famous crest 'Blood and Fire'.When composing Fire in the Blood I wanted to use three songs of worship that have been prevalent in the Salvation Army's services over a number of years. Opening with Richard Phillips' setting of Psalm 95, 'Sing for Joy', the music is vibrant and full of energy, I wanted to capture the spirit of the well known words of Scripture. The music then moves into a more reflective section that includes Howard Davies' emotive song melody 'Lord, you know that we love you' and Laurie Klein's worship song 'I love you Lord'.A re-statement of the opening Psalm setting follows and this, in turn, leads into a dramatic and powerful finale that combines two pivotal statements drawn from the slower, reflective section: I love you lord, and I lift my voice to worship you, O my soul rejoice and Lord, you know that we love you with a final flourish from Psalm 95: Come let us sing joy to the Lord!- Paul Lovatt-CooperDuration: 10:00

How Deep The Father's Love For Us
"How Deep The Father's Love For Us" is a timeless hymn from British songwriter and Christian worship leader Stuart Townend, written just before the end of the 20th century. This poignant setting for band by Anthony LaBounty was written to honor Mr. William Leslie, the father of beloved colleague Thomas Leslie, and purposely borrows vignettes of imagery recognized in Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring, among other orchestration elements. The tune is melodious and alluring; equal to the text bountiful in poetic language illuminating the scriptural epitome of the ultimate love of a father.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH (Concert Band) - Graham, Peter
Journey to the Centre of the Earth is one of Verne's best known works. The novel takes the form of a sequence of diary entries by Axel, nephew of Professor Otto Lidenbrock. The pair follow coded instructions in a old document guiding them to Iceland where, together with their guide Hans, they enter the open crater of an extinct volcano Sn?fells and pursue a trail to the centre of the earth. There follows hair-breadth escapes and ventures perilous as the intrepid explorers encounter a vast interior world. Peter Graham has taken some of the key scenes .from the book and set them as a sequence of symphonic extracts. It portrays the vastness of Space, the mechanics of Space (including shuttles and astronauts), as well as stunning views of the Earth. The main thematic material for the piece is modal, and is developed from key pitches and intervals that define the character and nature of the mixolydian mode. These are gradually introducted as accented notes over the opening ostinato. This modal music is gradually juxtaposed with a more conventional minor scale originally creating conflict and tension, but eventually harmony between these two sound-worlds.
