The Golden Gryphon (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haes, Tom
The Golden Gryphon by Tom De Haes portrays three distinguished characteristics of this fascinating mythical beast: the gryphon as guardian of the divine mystery; the winged gryphon, pulling the chariot of the sun god Helios; and the gryphon as heroic, invincible creature. The composition begins mysteriously, before the appearance of the three themes - at first individually, and then contrapuntally combined. A majestic chorale leads us finally to a dignified ending.Duration: 12.00

Weibermarsch (March of the Women from The Merry Widow) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Lehar, Franz - Van der Beek, Wil
This lively, attractive march originates from one of the best-known operettas by Franz Lehar, Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow), a work that brought the composer enormous success. The operetta features many lovely arias, and catchy dances, but also subtle passages and wonderful singable tunes. One of those is Ja, das Studium der Weiber ist schwer (The study of women is difficult), a tune incorporated in the trio of this march. Lehar obviously had high expectations for it, giving it a prominent place within the operetta. He also used it as an effective finale piece.Duration: 3:15
