£169.99The Mystery of Light (Nightlights) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
Light, sun, moon, stars: there has always been a connection to faith, the occult and mysticism. Different constellations were supposed to predict the future, and some phenomena have been interpreted as punishment by different Gods. From sunrises and solar eclipses, through rainbows, the scattering of light, sunset in the daytime, moonrises, the northern lights, the new moon, crescent moons and stellar constellations, to shooting stars... our observations encompass all this and much more. The Mystery of Light is the first of a series of pieces with the same theme. Nightlights deals with lights of the night: created partly by nature and partly by man himself and consists of three movements: Opener and Star Shower, Lunar Eclipse and Aurora and Fireworks.Duration: 13.15

£41.50Star-Rise (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Vultaggio, Jeanne
Star-Rise is a programmatic work depicting the progress of the stars across the night sky. Bells set the tone with a simple three-note melody as twilight falls and the first stars appear. Percussion effects represent crickets and cicadas chirping in the background. The texture becomes more chorale-like as related but distinct themes reveal themselves, representing rising constellations. As the star themes gently roll by, the harmony grows warmer and the melody becomes more grandiose in preparation for the final star-rise: the arrival of the morning sun.Duration: 2.15

£58.50Chasing Orion (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Barrett, Roland
Chasing Orion refers to the practice of celestial navigation, or "sailing by the stars." It was inspired by the rich early history of maritime sailing and the commercial shipping industry. After traveling to distant and exotic lands, the fast clipper ships raced toward home, their holds bursting with grain, wool, spices, gold, and other treasures. Catapulted forward by the "roaring forties" wind currents, the sleek and elegant sailing ships swept around the ever-dangerous Cape Horn as they navigated by the stars, "chasing Orion." A dramatic new addition to the young band literature!Duration: 3.00
