From his experience as a conductor and adjudicator, Bert Appermont knows that bands often experience the same problems: lack of sound control, intonation difficulties, uncontrolled articulation and insufficient phrasing. Practising these aspects is very demanding and there is little material available that is also enjoyable to play. Four Original Warm-Ups consists of four fun warm-up pieces. Each piece focuses on one of the problems without the music being dull. The four pieces work equally well when played together or as individual items either at rehearsals or in a concert.

Howl's Moving Castle - Joe Hisaishi
Based on Hayao Miyazaki's animation "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004), this Symphonic Fantasy for Band was arranged for Neagari Jr. High School Band (Kazuhiro Tanaka- director) in Nomi, Ishikawa, Japan as concert contest non-test repertoire.This work consists of 5 scenes which are freely adapted from Image Symphonic Suite (music released before the film's premier) and The Soundtrack:1. Spirited Away - Joe Hisaishi
This is an arrangement of Ghibli's Anime film, "Spirited Away". It consists of six themes including No-Face, One Summer Day, The Bottomless Pit, Yubaba's Panic, Always with Me, and Reprise. I also added an alternate introduction using The Dragon Boy. The No-Face opener is somewhat avant-garde with technical difficulties so select the opening that is best suited to your ensemble. The arrangement concept was created by Mr. Tomoki Ubata of Ina Gakuen Sr. High School. His wonderfully crafted ideas always impress me. Especially, in the arrangement, mallet percussion and piano are effectively used to sound like a music box and the lyrical melody of Reprise is superimposed. This scene is the best part of the entire arrangement and is very emotional. All these fine melodies from the film transport both audience and performers to the fantastic world of anime. Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea - Joe Hisaishi
The sound track ofPonyo on a Cliff by the Seaincludes a number of famous and familiar melodies as parody. I arranged it to exaggerate the fun-ness. "Deep Sea Ranch" from the film's beginning is reminiscent of Ravel's Lever du jour (Daphnis et Chlo); "Flight of Ponyo" with Wagner'sRide of the Valkyries, and "Mother of the Sea" with Jean Paul Martini'sPlaisir d'amour. The arrangement is enjoyable for movie fans as well as classic music fans. The main themePonyo on the Cliff by the Seaconcludes in lively march style. Ireland is a multi-faceted country that has developed a popular and distinctive musical culture. The first movement of Dublin Pictures reflects Irish festivals where there is dancing and traditional beer flowing. More tranquil in its feel, the second movement illustrates the landscape that can be seen from the Ha'penny Bridge, a bridge that crosses the River Liffey in Dublin. This movement highlights the wide range of the orchestra's sound colours as the musicians' voices combine with the wind and percussion to accompany the soloist. The lively and joyful rhythms of the last movement take the listener to Temple Bar, the famous tourist quarter of the city, well knownfor its vibrant nightlife. The music's energy and virtuosic motifs are in contrast to the previous movement and provide a spirited and festive finale.Marc Jeanbourquin wrote this piece in three movements for Azimuts Brass in 2011. He then arranged it for Concert, Fanfare or Brass Band

The Flood was commissioned by Music Society Maris Sonores from Biddinghuizen, the Netherlands, on the occasion of its 55th anniversary. In this colourful composition, the name of the society has been inventively woven into the music - Maris Sonores meaning sounds of the sea - by means of key clicks in the flutes and clarinets, wind effects in various brass and woodwind instruments along with timpani, as well as sound effects in the small percussion. In addition, the history of the town is also reflected musically. Many centuries ago, around the year 800, a hamlet by the name of Bidningahusum already existed; unfortunately, it fell victim to the water of the then Zuiderzee. Later, the catastrophic flood of 1170 dealt the final blow. In the 1960s, there was a call for pioneers to once more build a town carrying the name Biddinghuizen in the polder of Eastern Flevoland - and so it happened. This versatile work, which is available for concert band as well as fanfare band, has been written in such a way that many bands will be able to play it. Each instrument group comes out well, so that The Flood will be a joy for players and listeners alike.
