Crown Imperial: A Coronation March (1937) was composed for, and first performed at, the coronation service for King George VI in Westminster Abbey, London, on 12 May 1937 by the Coronation Orchestra, conducted by Sir Adrian Boult. It has been an important piece for the band repertoire for a number of years. This arrangement is intended to continue the legacy of a great piece for Concert/Wind Bands.

The English composer Sir Edward Elgar wrote the five Pomp and Circumstance marches between 1901 and 1930, the time of the British Empire, when the colonial and strategic world power of England was at its peak. The dark colours of the minor tonality and the hopeful sounding cantabile theme are extremely impressive, giving the march its unique character.
