£99.95WARCRYE OF ELFEGEN (Prestige Concert Band Set) - Lawrence, Geoffrey
Score and Parts. The piece depicts scenes from the mythological kingdom of Elfegen, the North European home of a ferocious race of warriors. From the tranquillity of the opening, where first can be heard the eerie 'warcrye', things move quickly on; figures are scurrying up and down the hills moving into battle positions. The intensity increases constantly and soon a fierce battle rages. In time, the fighting subsides and a period of reflective calm replaces the chaos that has gone before. During the lull in battle a lone voice is heard, as if trying to appeal for peace, for people to resolve their differences and see sense. The voice is, however, ignored and the conflict sparks off once more. The ruthless Elfegen warriors are not content until the victory is complete, a very loud, and triumphant climax is heard as another battle reaches its inevitable conclusion. £101.20A Spring Lullaby - Andrew Pearce
During the past few years, Andrew Pearce enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Phillip Cobb, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, composing such works as The Maestro and Interlude for his album in 2012. Later Cobb invited Pearce to compose a slow melody, accompanied by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force for Cobb's upcoming album, displaying his softer, expressive side on flugelhorn. This song-like, warm lilting lullaby reflects on the joy of life.

Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force, 'Scramble!' is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain, immortalised for ever in such films as 'Reach for theSky'. The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is, of course, deceptive, suddenly amid siren sounds, there is a shoutof 'Scramble!', and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne, heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillnessmanypilots described as they flew to engage the enemy, before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned, it would be only a short while before, once again, they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'

Chips In A Bag - Leslie Searle
This is a stirring, skilful transfer of pop-style music for youth wind band. The original composition can he performed by smaller bands: the larger score is for additional Instruments. Leslie Searle came to Germany in 1965 as a Saxophonist in the Band of the Royal Air Force. He has composed and made arrangements of music by Kurt Edelhagen among others, and has played in numerous bands. He is now director of a private music school in Remscheid.

The Trattamars (Tratta March) was originally written for 'Il trattamento miracolo', an ensemble of five, performing light-hearted musical acts for the young and the old. This march is played when the members of the group appear on stage. The Dutch composer of the march, Matthias van Nispen tot Pannerden, studied classical saxophone as well as band conducting and composition at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg. He is a baritone saxophonist with the Orkest van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Band of the Royal Netherlands Air force). He is also active as a freelance conductor and composer.Duration: 3:30

The men and women of the Royal Canadian Air Force are the inspiration behind this original composition by Vince Gassi. The first work in his Armed Forces Suite, it takes off with a bright, spirited theme first heard in the flutes. The rest of the ensemble soon joins in the maneuvers and offers a fuller tactical report. Clarinets take over with dignity, providing a lyrical contrast, and are supported by a stately accompaniment. It isn't long before we start to feel the "spirit of adventure" building to a contrasting section conveying images of stealth and intrigue. Covert operations lead finally to a restatement of the opening theme by the brass with flute and clarinet obligato. Interlace with fragments from the covert section and we are carried to a soaring conclusion. If you are looking for a spirited concert opener or closer, look no further!Duration: 3:15

El Camino Real (The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was commissioned by the 581st Air Force Band and its commander, Lt. Col. Ray E. Toler. This fantasy is based on a series of Spanish folk melodies and underscored by chord progressions used by generations of flamenco guitarists, whose fiery style and brilliant playing have created a vast body of what many consider authentic Spanish music.The music follows a traditional fast-slow-fast pattern, with a first section that is based on the dance form known as the jota, and second contrasting section derived from the fandango.
