This movement depicts a flight on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breath-taking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction of the view.As with all modern cities, London is over-crowded with motor vehicles. London is the first major city in Europe to adopt a Congestion Charge, and this piece (with its stop and go traffic lights) is both racy and comical. Here are Londoners attempting to go about their business in the face of overwhelming odds.....

A Thames Journey is a 10-minute work which follows the journey of the river Thames, from its origins as a few drops of water in Wiltshire to the point where it meets the open sea. Hess draws upon many musical links along the Thames, such as an old Wiltshire melody, morris dancing in Oxfordshire, boating songs from Berkshire. With such rich and diverse sources of music across several counties and centuries, this has quite understandably become one of Hess's most popular wind band works to date.

Inspired by his home town of Sebastian on the east coast of Florida, Nicholas Constanza wrote Dive! to share his childhoods spent at the Indian River and coastal beaches. This piece paints the scene of diving underwater, getting swept up by a fast current, and discovering wonders beneath the surface. The driving eighth-note pulse reflects the swift current while the main theme represents the wonders that might be hidden beneath the surface. In ancient Egypt, the word "Pharaoh" meant "Great House," referring first to the royal palace itself and later to the ruler in power as an official title of leadership. Land of the Pharaohs is a short, musical depiction of the power that the ancient Pharaohs once held and the drama that has captivated mankind since the end of their long reign.
