    Along the Weser, as the title suggests, is an homage to the river Weser, the beautiful waterway that meanders through Northern Germany.     Mekong is a river that flows through the heart of Vietnam. Robert W. Smith has created this composition for band based on the Mekong River delta's historic significance during the Vietnam War of the 1960s and 1970s. Beautiful and haunting melodies, lush and dissonant harmonies and acoustically created sound effects combine to provide a concert performance experience that will not be forgotten by performer or audience. This piece completes a compositional journey the composer began in Korea to honor his father and those who served in Southeast Asia.     Three Stars Of Tennessee - Gary P. Gilroy

    Inspired by the three distinct cultural regions of Tennessee, this three-movement work abounds with flair and creativity. The first movement, Smokey Mountain Jig, salutes the eastern "mountain folk" with an original Irish jig. Movement two, Plantation Sunrise,is a beautiful ballad for the central region. Movement three, Johnny on the River, reflects life in western Tennessee as it depicts the vivacious business and social life on the river. A wonderful work!

    On the Merrimack was commissioned by Chris Martin and the Southside Middle School Band, Manchester, New Hampshire (Matthew Hammond, director), and is dedicated to the city of Manchester, New Hampshire. Constant throughout the history of the region was the central importance of the Merrimack River. The material of the piece represents the three main periods of development: The Pennacook Indians; Amoskeag and the Mills and Technology and Growth, with connective sections representing the ever-present river. Much of the melodic material for the piece is taken from the French Canadian folksong, Weaving in the United States.
