Thanks to the low grade of difficulty of this piece this it is possible to play in a 'real band' after only a few lessons. Dance of Uzume - Piet Swerts
Dance of Uzume is a concertino that is based on a Japanese myth: out of anger toward her brother Susanowa, the storm god, the sun goddess Amaterasu hides in a cave. The goddess of joy, Uzume, succeeds in luring the sun goddess out of the cave by dancing wildly. The joy and laughter of the other gods as they watch Uzume arouses Amaterasu's curiosity and with her appearance, the light on earth returns. This fantastic new original work will make a much needed addition to the advanced repertoire for saxophone and concert band. A version for saxophone and piano is also available.

This short, "cool" suite in three movements can be performed with a variety of instruments from a handful of players to a complete concert band. The first movement radiates joy with a powerful 3/4 beat. The second movement is in the style of a pavane, which gives a sense of nostalgia and the final movement forms a cheerful and high-spirited closing with a really funky beat. Reverie - Robert Schumann
Severe and permanent damage to this hand prevented Robert Schumann from pursuing a career as a concert pianist. However, this tragedy allowed Schumann to compose an exquisite body of work, including orchestra, chamber and vocalworks. He most frequently composed for his own instrument, the piano. Henk Hogestein has chosen the famous Reverie from Scenes from Childhood and turned it into a moving arrangement for concert band. Dur: 3:00

Serge Lancen was born in Paris in 1922. The whole of his life has been dominated by music. He wrote his first work at the age of four. He studied with Tony Aubin at the Paris Conservatoire. In 1949 he won a prize for his Etudes, and some time later he was awarded the Prix de Rome.His work as composer is very varied and includes a number of solo concerti (for example for flute, double bass and piano), a Sinfonietta and a large number of works in the light symphonic genre (many of these commissioned by the French Radio), chamber music, film music, and during the last ten years various works for wind band, such as the Manhattan Symphony, Festival in Kerkrade, Symphonie de Paris and this beautiful Chant de l'Arbre (Song of the Tree).

Though composed as a simple unpretentious little work, this 'Fandango Fantasy' sounds somewhat virtuoso. The slow middlepart makes us think of the plendid piano pieces by the Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz, many of wich have already been orchestrated for wind band. The quick part with which the work starts and ends (in a whirling finale) is the actual fandango.

This piece was commissioned by Kunstfactor in the Netherlands, as part of the Swinds Project. (Swing for Winds). The work is contains several well-known musical styles similar to those found in well-known musicals. After a sparkling overture comes a cheerful Hollywood/Entertainment style allegro. This is followed by a quiet, romantic pop ballad. A Musical Fantasy concludes with a swinging, jazzy finale. Besides the normal wind band orchestration, a Piano, Bass Guitar and Drum set have been added. In the Score and Parts you can find some Side Skills: These warm ups are very helpful for learning the composition.

This miniature tone poem for concert band is a sequel of Benjamin Yeo's earlier work Flight. Voyage to the End of the Earth depicts a voyage by ship across the sea. The music expresses the calm of the sea before the ship sets sail towards the horizon. The ringing of the ship's bell and the blowing of the ship's horn signal the start of the journey. Now we hear the lyrical song of the sea, with lovely views of the ocean accompanied by whale song and seagull calls. Let yourself succumb to Mother Nature's beauty through this music! The piano part in this composition is optional.
